It's better than nothing, I didn't even know they were going to nerf fungal. The reduced range now makes snipe and FB a little more powerful. It also makes colossus a threat to incoming infestors. As well as tank+viking.

I just would like to see the root removed from fungal and changed to a slow, make it a 50% movement speed reduction or something (maybe buff damage a bit to compensate). I'd also like to see fungal have no affect, or at least no rooting, on massive units.

Marine + Medivac, particularly "a-move" style, dies to speed Banes + Lings so quickly it's not even funny. Even with good spreading to avoid maximum Baneling damage, now your Marines have more surface area for Lings to kill them.

I love the Infested Terran egg nerf. This means that a Psi Storm will kill the eggs. Storm does 80 damage over 40 seconds and disregards armor upgrade, which means that PvZ can use energy-power rather than supply to negate the Infestor energy-power

I still wouldn't be against having Fungal be a projectile again, but I'm happy to see Blizzard make an adjustment. I guess we'll see how big of a difference this makes.

Huge patch is live:

Quote:
Terran

Medivac
New ability: Emergency Thrusters

-Speed boost that increases movement speed and acceleration to 4.25 for 8 seconds. 20 second cooldown.

The Medivac’s Caduceus Reactor upgrade at the Starport Tech Lab:

-Health restored per second from 9 to 15.
-Energy cost reduced from 3 health per 1 energy to 5 health per 1 energy.
-Cost increased from 100/100 and 80 seconds to 150/150 and 110 seconds.

Reaper
-Base speed increased from 2.95 to 3.375
-Upgraded speed increased from 3.84 to 4.25.

Widow Mine
-No longer hits cloaked units.

New upgrade:
Drilling Claws
-Decreases burrow time from 3 to 1 second.
-Requires Tech Lab and Armory. Costs 150/150, 110 second research time

Thor
-250mm Strike Cannons has been removed.
-The Thor can now switch between two modes: High-Impact Payload and Explosive Payload. The mode shift takes 4 seconds.
When in High-Impact Payload mode, the Thor switches to a different anti-air gun (250mm Punisher Cannons) that has 10 range and deals 24 flat damage.
-Thor radius, inner radius, and separation radius increased from 0.8215 to 1.

Raven
Seeker Missile has been redesigned:
-Can now fire from 10 range.
-Missile comes out and stays immobile in front of the Raven for 3 seconds while charging up, then rapidly moves (it’s not dodgeable at this point) and explodes at the target for 300 single target damage.
-Targeted unit lights up red when targeted. If the unit moves 13 range out of where the Seeker Missile is, the Missile fizzles.

Hellbat
Splash damage radius increased from 90 to 110.
-
Armory
-The Armory now only has one weapon and one armor upgrade for both air and ground upgrades for both Factory and Starport units.

Quote:
Protoss

Mothership
-Recall now functions as it does with the Mothership Core.
-Vortex now kills a single target.
-Vortex does not affect massive units.

Mothership Core
-no longer massive.

Oracle
Pulsar Beam
-Now called “Activate Pulsar Beam” and “Deactivate Pulsar Beam”.
-When activated, the Oracle’s Pulsar Beam is enabled.
-Weapon deals 15+10 light.
-Weapon period changed to 0.86, down from 1.
-Weapon range reduced to 4.Energy drain is now 4 per second.

-Build time increased to 50, up from 35.

Phoenix
-Range increased from 4 to 5. Upgrade still grants +2 range.

Dark Shrine
-cost is now 100/100, down from 100/250.

Tempest
-Now requires Fleet Beacon.
-Attacks with two weapons. The primary weapon, Kinetic Overload, hits air units and remains unchanged. The secondary weapon, Resonance Coil, hits ground units, and does not deal bonus damage to massive units.
-Build time is now 60, down from 75.

Void Ray
Prismatic Beam:
-No longer charges up.
-Weapon period decreased from 0.6 to 0.5.
-No longer does passive +massive damage.

Prismatic Alignment (new ability) increases damage to armored units by 6 for 20 seconds, with a 1 minute cooldown. This does not scale with upgrades.

Medivac speed boost is meh. The caduceus reactor is insanely awesome. Reapers might become the most annoying unit in the game. I'll have to test the thor to decide. I like the raven buff, could be really strong. Hellbat is meh. Armory is pretty huge.

Not sure about the protoss changes, I'd have to test them or watch pros play with it. Dark shrine buff is LOL's.

Hydra buff is good. Muta is kinda meh. I like the infestor fungal nerf. The nerf on infested terrans seems extreme. They're basically useless in late game now. Ultras finally relevant?

At first glance, the Armory change seems REALLY strong.

EG-TL's combined team in Proleague is shaping up quite decently...

Terran: Sea, Taeja, PuMa, ThorZain?, DeMuslim?
Protoss: HerO, Huk, JYP
Zerg: Stephano, Jaedong, Zenio, Idra

There are also some good free agents out there. Quantic Gaming just folded completely, so Illusion, SaSe and TheSTC are all available. I'd like to see Illusion get picked up by Liquid. On top of those players, there are still a number of free agents such as Alicia (P), Revival (Z), Sage (P), and Sleep (Z). All of those players would benefit either TL or EG.

Hellbat splash is stupid, they already demolish lings/zealots anyway

Armory changes...that could be insanely huge, maybe they will increase each upgrade cost

Mothership changes are retarted, Vortex blows, and you can now Vortex another Mommaship to instakill it

Phoenix will now dominate the skies without any real threats, Overlords have never known more fear

DT cost change is great, its now a viable mid-game option as opposed to a desperation last-resort attempt

Why remove the Ultra burrow charge? it's awesome!

Love the other Zerg changes, but honestly don't think the IT egg nerf was necessary, now they will die before popping 90% of the time

Medivacs didn't have had their cost increased, just the cost of the upgrade was increased (there's no way this makes it through as is, but it's worth a shot). Medivac and the armory are the two biggest things in the patch. Terran got such massive buffs this time around, time for people to switch races.

I watched grubby talk about the patch on a vod from his stream today, made a good point about the widow mine. The upgrade changes it from a passive defender/area controller into something that van be used with your army in battles. He also talked about the IT's not benefiting from upgrades, basically said it's stupid to be able to summon no supply units en masse that can deal ~12.5dps. They destory buildings so fast. Infestors have been made into a support unit (which is what casters are supposed to be) rather than a 1 unit army (which they currently are). Which makes a lot of sense.

I've changed my approach to TvZ, after getting crushed repeatedly trying to go mech. 3 base Marine Tank with a ~15-18 minute push is now my standard. I started doing it after watching Bomber's play, and then Day9 did a Daily on it which helped me tighten up my timings a little bit.

With EG continuing to grow, I'm wondering when they'll eventually make a few cuts. Axslav (pretty good player) and Strifecro (eh) got cut when they picked up JYP. I don't think LZGamer and Machine are going to get their contracts renewed, whenever they run out. Actually, I'm not even sure if LZGamer has a contract. Even in this spell of Zerg "dominance" they aren't doing anything. That would leave...

Z: Stephano, Jaedong (1 year loan), Idra, Suppy
T: PuMa, ThorZain, DeMuslim
P: JYP, HuK, Incontrol

They definitely need another Protoss, and probably another Terran... Although DeMuslim has been doing well in NASL and seems to get better every time I see him.

Well so far PvT is even more garbage now than it ever was, no strategy involved whatsoever for protoss. Make AoE and use it. 9:30 medivac timing is ****ing ******** now thanks to the new upgrades, without AoE you die every time.

Played some HotS today, medivacs are hilarious now. Their speed boost is ridiculous. When I read it in the patch I thought it was going to be lame, but once you see it in-game, it's pretty awesome/powerful for terrans. The days where terran would trade armies and have to retreat with the remaining medivacs only to lose them are over, just ****ing turbo boost your ass outta there.

More than retreating with empty Medivacs, I'm looking forward to seeing the Polt's and MKP's of the world sending a pack of 5 Medivacs 5 different directions at once to avoid a projectile Fungal, or going hyper-aggressive with drop after drop after drop.

I don't like Jaedong's chances here. Why they put their new star recruit into a ZvP on Ohana is beyond me.

TeamLiquid has a fantasy league... You pick 6 players and 1 team, each having a certain point value (ie. Rain is 12 points, Idra is 2 points) and those 7 have to add up to 30 or less. You also pick "anti-team" players that must add up to 13 or more - if those players do well, you lose points.

Main Team:
Flying (Woongjin Stars) (P) - 6
hyvaa (STX SouL) (Z) - 6
Last (STX SouL) (T) - 5
RyuL2 (Team 8) (Z) - 2
Sea (EG-TL) (T) - 2
soO (SK Telecom) (Z) - 6 (captain)
Team: STX SouL - 3

Anti-Team:
JangBi (Samsung Khan) (P) 5
JYP (EG-TL) (P) 4
Shine (Samsung Khan) (Z) 4

--------

KT Rolster vs. EG-TL:

Spoil:
Stephano will be playing in ~2-3 weeks. Taeja and HerO are both currently in California for NASL so they'll be playing in future Proleague games. I'm not sure where Sea is but he would have helped. 4-0 doesn't look good but there's 41 matches left for them.

I don't understand why EG-TL put Jaedong on Ohana. It's not a good Zerg map at all - they should have thrown ThorZain on that map and Jaedong on Caldeum or Antiga.

-------

Now, it's going to be STX Soul vs. SK Telecom T1.

(P)Dear <Caldeum> (P)Bisu
(P)Trap <Cloud Kingdom> (Z)soO
(T)Last <Antiga Shipyard> (Z)Sacsri
(T)Innovation <Ohana> (P)Rain
(Z)hyvaa <Bifrost> (P)BeSt
(T)Classic <Arkanoid> (T)Fantasy

I'm really looking forward to Bogus (aka Innovation, Code S semi-finalist) vs. Rain. I'm hoping soO wins - he won the MLG MvP tournament and stomped MarineKing in the Tournament of Champions yesterday, and looks very promising.

Spoil:

(P)Dear <Caldeum> (P)Bisu
(P)Trap <Cloud Kingdom> (Z)soO
(T)Last <Antiga Shipyard> (Z)Sacsri
(T)Innovation <Ohana> (P)Rain
(Z)hyvaa <Bifrost> (P)BeSt ********
(T)Classic <Arkanoid> (T)Fantasy

Last vs. Sacsri was an awesome, entertaining game.
