I wonder if Sami Kapanen had his best CGA totals as a 'Cane or a Flyer.

You really shouldn't show people how easy you are hook lined and sinkered

Eric Staal's season truly is one of the elite seasons we've ever seen.

Even better? I loved watching it take a page or two for it to finally dawn on them, then disappearing.

This truly was an epic thread by any standard.

BCC, could you continue this to include Henrik Sedin? I'm pretty sure Staal would come out on top in both CGA and HSA

I'm sure he would oblige.

And of course he would. Staal's having one of the top 5 seasons in NHL history.

I think this thread proves why CGA is the most overrated stat out there.

Believe it or not, it's the most under-rated stat out there. I certainly wouldn't speak for BCC, but being the Money Balls of hockey is a burden I should think.

hes been amazingly consistent. in that this is exactly how he plays almost every year at this point. hes a dominant player when everything is clicking for him. i dont think its that he doesnt care till it doesnt matter, it just seems like his game isnt the most skill oriented and it takes him way too long to get it all going at once. he could really use another skill guy who creates on his own, so that the ugly starts impact is lessened. at the end of the day, you cant deny hes one of the best in the game when hes playing like this. everything he touches starts going in, passes somehow start finding the right sticks. i dont think this year is better than any other time hes done this. the year we squeeked into the playoffs and made the conference finals he was this good down the stretch. statistically maybe there is a difference but in watching him play its the same.

I follow most of this, however, why doesn't the CGA include Staal's obvious assist on Wardo's goal?

You must admit it took a supreme act of selflessness on Staal's part to not rocket down the ice and stuff Kokopuff's pass into the net.

Sutter avoiding the pass was entirely obvious but Eric instead -- by not acting -- provided the most unlikely of assists and ensured a goal for his good old buddy (I'll always pick you first) Wardo.

MT Nett was surely smiling somewhere as he himself could not have orchestrated it better.

I never thought of it this way, and you, sir, win the Internet for the day.

TSN has recently noticed Staal's great season, though they haven't fully understood the extent of it.

Eric Staal has better Calude Giroux adjusted Stats than Claude Giroux.

TSN needs to credit me if they are going to blatantly steal my research like that.
