Yea...Barca can be stopped if they botch all their good chances, just like any other team.

Which is why, I said you never know what could happen and this result wasn't good for Barca.

Stats backup my point. After 60 minutes, OM have double the shots and double the shots on target than Bayern.
Ok, I admit, maybe that statement was a little bit too bold. Still, I do believe you do not have to call that a hand ball, especially because of that short distance and the fact that IMHO his hand/arm was not in an unnatural position (I see, here we disagree).

Marseille had more shots, yes, most of them off target and from distance. Bayern was dominating with much more ball possession (in an away game!), without generating many chances, which they didn't need to, especially in a 1st leg where a more defense-first approach is necessary.

Anyway, Real-Bayern it is, most likely .

Long story short: With Mandanda in goal we're not even talking about that situation. 9 of 10 keepers save that shot.

That's the point. Arguments can be had about the hand ball; by the letter of the law it wasn't deliberate so wasn't a free kick, but referees will generally give a free kick if the hand is away from the body and results in an advantage. But that happened 25 yards from the Bayern goal, there may have been a quick break but the resultant shot was right at the goalkeeper. OM can only look their own failings for trailing at half time.

Overall the referee didn't have a good night. I thought that M'Bia was very deliberate when he hit Gomez in the face with his forearm, I really don't understand how only a yellow card was shown there.

I'm really glad that milan prevented barca from scoring an away goal. This definitely is a good result for Milan. Forza Milan

OM had twice more shots on target in the first hour. So again no.
Neuer made a couple of good saves (Fanni's header, Ayew's shot, Rémy's chip...) while Andrade made one (Gomez's shot that should have been 2-0).

Totally agree on Andrade and Mbia.
Andrade is OM's 3rd goalie. Mandanda was suspended and Bracigliano (OM's 2nd goalie) was horrible against Quevilly (3rd level team) in Coupe de France action. So DD played Andrade, and well, he should have played Bracigliano.
Mbia went hockey mode there on his elbow. Horrible foul, should have been a red.

Agreed on both accounts. If the second half was disappointing, I found the first half wonderful theatre; the whistling of Milan's fans everytime Barca got into the final third and the crowd's roars of triumph every time Messi was stopped in his tracks were really something. It was remarkable how many chances Barca created during those 45 minutes but Milan kept on just doing enough to keep them out.

I can't wait for the second leg.

So, as you're only talking about shots on/off target, you only seem to base your statement 'if not better than bayern' only on that factor and neglecting attacks (like the one where Müller's pass didn't connect in the box) completely?

People keep saying, oh well AC only really need one or two away goals and they are through.

Playing against a team that score goals at home for fun.

They drew in the group and have a really strong defensive mentality. They're also good on the counter. So who knows.

No, I responded to your own claim (OM's shots were only from distance and off target). Which is wrong both objectively and statistically.

OM was as good as Bayern in the first half, that's really obvious, and it can be argued they were better (several Bayern players said so BTW). But the first goal killed them.

yeah whatever, your first point in this thread was that I was wrong because I was french.
The other arguments you tried to make were proven wrong statistically.

At some point, you just have to realize that my statements about the first half were very reasonnable and that you got worked up over nothing.

I reckon that Milan will do well but they'll lose 2-1.

Would have been some goal from Messi on that little move. Milan look lively at least.

Nice to see the ref keep a level head. Clear penalty, clearly not a red card.

Calm, cool and collected. #50 for Messi in the Champions League at the age of 24. Amazing.

Milan's D is so freakin' sloppy.

Milan would have scored if not for that header to deflect out for a corner. Think that was Busquets and it was a great play.
