Something unique. Black indie chick:

XMU's been playing this on occasion. Could be one to watch.

I'd suggest to check out a playlist that I made of one of the major events at SXSW (happened 2 weeks ago). It doesn't contain only indie music per say but you'll find that the majority of the music videos are from indie bands. I would also like to say that it's mostly only one music video per band. The Hype Machine Hype Hotel showcase had a lineup of over 50 bands so you'll excuse me...

Some bands already mentionned that are in the playlist:
Tennis
Youth Lagoon
Delta Spirit
Blitzen Trapper

Without further ado, the playlist

By the way, Santigold will be releasing her new album in a month or so.

^ I don't recommend buying that White Lies 2nd album. That song is pretty good but the album is poor and their first album is better (but not strong). They've produced some very good singles so far but lack consistency.

I recommended The Jezabels in the earlier post. This band has more albums and they're not as good but their 1st album is worth buying, other two are okay. The voice of the lead singer is great (and she looks a bit like Zooey Deschanel).

Would also recommend Sportfreunde Stiller, very good German band. They make some pretty catchy radio hit type songs (not that I can understand them).

The National is a must. Boxer and Alligator are both great albums.

Sufjan Stevens is the best songwriter of the last decade. Illinois and Michigan are good bets.

You could also go back a few years and pick up In the Aeroplane over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel, an indie classic.
Seven Swans is so underrated. Possibly my favourite Sufjan album. I also love Age of Adz, even though it's way different than his older stuff.

"Origins" by Tennis is one of the best singles from the last few months. The follow-up, "My Better Half," is a lot weaker. The singing is great, but her keyboard playing is so basic.

Yeah, that'll be interesting to hear more.

Also curious about Purity Ring and Charli XCX. Purity Ring might still be unsigned, and not sure about Charli XCX's status either.

I agree those are great as well, but I think they're a bit less accessible.
