Ok, I'll admit that. He is slow. But we have a fast team as it is, what we need to add is size. Penner brings that, and when he is playing well he uses it.

It wouldn't shock me if they signed him at a bargain price and hope he works out.

I'd only be interested in Penner at a $2M price tag.

No way. If we are signing a guy, I'd want him with the tea all summer, getting used to his surroundings and his teammates and what not.

Penner is big, but extremely slow. Doesn't use his size and strength effectively either.
Edit: A 1 year/2 mill deal wouldn't be... awful..

But he is that presense in front of the net that we don't have. This guy is hard to move from the frtont of the net and that's exactly what we need especially on our PP.

i dont see how we can sign penner. even if we could get him at a reasonable price where would he play?
lupul bozak kessel
kulemin grabs mac
frattin lombardi connolly
brown steckel armstrong
we still need to find a place for kadri who imo will be ready to go next season.
if burke signs penner he will be part of lack after 2 months. PLACK

Penner would be good on a 1 year contract, based on its a last chance.
I don't really like the stop gap players, but then again I thought that Clarke MacArthur would be and I could easily handle a couple more years of him.

thats kind of it isn't it, Burke is saying he needs to completely change this team but at the same time he's kind of committed to a good chunk of the top 9
lupul kessel
kulemin grabs mac
frattin
Maybe colborne and Ashton fill out that 3rd line but not sure how he's going to get a #1 C with scraps and still no room for Kadri
something has to give

Yeah, i think we are in for a bit of an overhaul tbh. I would have said that regardless of the new coaching system, because after a collapse like we just had, you do NOT go into another season expecting to perform.

With the 5th pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, The Toronto Maple Leafs are proud to select: from the U.S. National Development Team: Jacob Trouba.
That is the only offseason speculation I have.

Lupul wouldn't get either alone , you'd probably have to add to Lupul to get either of those guys and it would still probably take a lot
Lupul will need to have another season equal to the last before anyone starts valuing him as a legit top line and even top 6 fwd

I wish.
Something like Lupul+Macarthur+Holzer+2nd might get it done but I doubt Philly is willing to part with two promising young players.

Ya PPG wingers aren't a fluke. There's no questioning....amongst anyone...that lupul is a top 6 forward.
I don't think the value is that far off, and if teams are really valuing lupul this low than the leafs will happily keep him for another PPG season.

Call me crazy, but I'd rather take the deal above in my post for Brayden Schenn. We need to keep Kadri.

Both young players who haven't had the impact you want.
Center
Born Jun 2 1988 -- Vesteras, Sweden
Height 6.04 -- Weight 215 -- Shoots L
No thanks. We need to keep Schenn.

I'd have to do it because it's a big overpayment by Philadelphia, but Philadelphia would never do this.
And we need to keep Lupul.

I'd consider this. Especially if Adam is playing center (not sure if he's playing wing or center for the Sabres/Americans).

Hell no. I wouldn't trade Schenn straight up for Purcell. I wouldn't trade Kadri straight up for Purcell. We need to keep both Schenn and Kadri.
