lol dont think burke would do that but that's a hillariou thought for sure.
I really hope we can get schultz as we aren't going to get high end players off the FA in my eyes.
It actually strikes me as such a burkey move lol. Like we would pay a normal price for Ryan, but we toss in Schultz on top of it just because it evens out the Gardiner deal.
I like DeKeyser the most. 6'3 plus a good skater is always a good combination. As for 2nd round picks, I would go for Mccabe, Jankowski, wilson or marcountini.
And for our first, I would try, in this order:
1)Draft Grigorenko
2) Try to it trade for Getzlaf/Nash
3) Draft Galchenyuck/forsberg/faksa

DeKeyser announced he is playing for WMU next year, otherwise would have loved to sign him this summer.

Your 1 2 3 plan is along the same lines as mine.
Mine is:
1) Draft Yakupov/Grigo/Galy/Murray
2) Package the pick for Getzlaf or Nash if the 1st option fails
3) Draft Faksa/Gaunce/Forsberg/Zemgus if the 1st and 2nd options fail

IDK, just seems so Burkey lmao.
lol what? Burke doesn't "even" trades lol. Ask Anaheim fans they can tell u they are very happy with beauchemin. he trades fair value... lol

I dont think Getz is someone we should target, eric staal/getzlaf would be better imo, but imo the Leafs have to move up a couple spots and take one of yakopov/grigs/galy. With one of those guys in the system we wait a year and we have our #1 center. Gaunce and faksa and forsberg are good, but we need that legit star. Would have been nice to pick up a 2nd or 1st rounder at the deadline . Burkie will no whats best
Im surprised we didnt sign Mitchell Heard after the prospect camp. He pretty much did everything you can expect from a young player like him and he had a very good season for Plymouth. Probably better prospect than Kenny Ryan.

lol can't be that evil.

I hope so. I really like jones as a character guy as well, would be great for this team.
This is sort of what I think Burke has been moving towards while he's been here.
Getting the pro prospect depth (and junior depth) ramped up a bit so that if they do make a move where they trade 2 maybe 3 players/prospects in a deal the hit isn't as detrimental to the system. Let's not forget the potential additions of our own prospects to pros next season - and there are only so many spots on the team.
Adding another top pick in this draft will only help the depth. That is, if he keeps it
If you think about the possible players available for the Marlies next year coming from junior, there could be a quite a logjam, especially at forward. As much as you want a farm team full of young prospects, also important to have a few vets in the mix in order to help the development cycle.
You have to think one of BB's priorities this summer is finding a new home for the likes of Armstrong, Lombardi and Komisarek. Not only are they contributing very little for the salaries they command, but they are now blocking the path of some youngsters who probably deserve a shot in the bigs.
J.T. Brown looks solid like Abbott, and is 2 years younger. Seems to me that one of our prospects will be attending Minnesota-Duluth with him next year. Is it Cameranesi?

I'm anticipating an exciting offseason, there is a lot of changes that needs to be made, especially with Randy Carlyle as Coach.
First off, I am now on the Spencer Abbott bandwagon. It would be good to get some Talent like that in our organizaton, you never know, he could be the next St. Louis.
Now wouldn't it be awesome if we tanked and managed to draft Mikhail Grigorenko, our prospect depth would then be pretty insane!
Now, this offseason for the big club, there are going to be potentially a lot of changes. Here is what we need to do:
[1] Shed Salary - Say goodbye to at least two of Lombardi, Armstrong, Connolly, Komisarek
[2] Aquire players that will fit in Carlyles system. These players should include:
a) Veterans.
- Look at teams like St. Louis, Boston, etc... they all have gone out and acquired veteran players that will give them experience and support in the playoffs.
b) More Defensive Minded players
- The era of Ron Wilson's run and gun hockey is now finished. Carlyle is going to want players that can fit in the type of game he wants to implement
c) More physical players
- Clearly carlyle is already upset how little fight the Toronto Maple Leafs have been puting up, and he'll make sure he'll get physical players who are willing to pay the price for his team
d) Better, Veteran Goaltender
- This is probably the most important aspect of the off season for the Toronto Maple Leafs
1. sign Vokun to play and let Reimer backup and if Reimer is over his sophomore jinx and concussions issues then we will have a vet to mentor Reimer maybe a 60-40 split.
2. Hopefully draft in the top 5 and get the C they need.
3.Hopefully the new CBA has an amnesty clause and use it on Komiserek.
4. Hopefully SJ does not make the playoffs and we can make a run at dealing for Joe Thornton.( maybe do a Kadri, Gunnarson and Conolly + pick for Thornton)
5. Sign George Parros to a small deal to play 4th line with Brown and Steckel and there is a line to wreak havoc just like Carlyle wants.
That would address goaltending, 1C and some jam on the bottom 6.
Then try and move Lombardi, Armstrong and Macarthur for some extra prospects, picks or bottom 6 with jam.
