How quickly things went from "old and unknowledgeable" to "the best show available, and we're so happy you are talking to us." God bless the interwebs.
Didn't McKenzie post a few years back basically slamming some guy that made some disparaging comments about him?
Yep, even called the guy an assclown on HF. Single greatest post in the history of the board.

Oh god, even better. I honestly don't think we could possibly have anything better that's Canes specific coming on here aside from Eric Staal himself making a driveby post of "I do, I hate that little figure skating ****er".
On another forum I frequent, Jesse James the welder/bike builder showed up and started posting. Some gave him a lot of crap, some completely kissed his backside. But he was cool and handles himself well.

I mean, you couldn't make that stuff up. Not just that he showed up, but that the post actually included the word "assclown". And this happened in real life.

I'm honestly kind of surprised we haven't yet seen a player get blackout drunk and come on HF to rant about something. It seems like it would just be a matter of time.
I'd love to get Maniscalco on here. Not that we'd immediately change that quickly, I don't think... We'd run him out pretty quick, I'd guess.
You'd be surprised. Having met the guy Mike's a lot smarter individually then a lot of people give him credit for. A good bit of that is having to dumb it down for the radio audience, and given the average caller into those shows him having to dumb it down is only logical. He also follows the company line talking points on the shows far more then he does off the record/air, not that he's as brutal as we can be but he's not paid to be 100% open with his take on the radio that's for sure.
I've tried listening to the Aftermath a few times, and I couldn't hang in more than a couple of minutes each time. It wouldn't be good without the call-ins, but it would be better. The call-ins make it unbearable.

I flip the station every time a kid calls in. Sorry, but I've heard more then enough of those calls go badly that it basically ruins it.
Are the call-ins really that much different than much of what get's posted here in a GDT or PGT?
Not really. Especially not when the team is winning and the riff-raff starts showing up in the GDTs.
Maniscalco isn't that bad either. When they deserve it, he's about as hard on the team as an employee is realistically going to be. If they played badly, he will typically say so and point out at least one valid reason why. What do you want him to do, start ranting about how much the team sucks and calling out players on the air? The guy is standing in a booth inside the arena surrounded by fans. I highly doubt that he's going to start ripping on players like an internet troll.
I wondered if he wasn't a possibility for us. Might've been redundant with our other tweeners, but he could really blow up with the isles. Reminds me of the wings letting go off Quincey.
He's a founder of some hip-hop record company there I think.
That would be Big Up Entertainment. No clue who, if anybody, of note they have signed. Maybe waiting for the Sedin Twins to parlay their fame into a rap career?
The player will still receive 100% of this season's salary if bought out now. This will not be a buyout in addition to the two total each team can use between now and the start of the 2014-15 season. It just avoids players like Redden or Gomez sitting at home to avoid an injury that would prevent a buyout this summer.

I'm glad to see that there will be a somewhat sensible end to that saga.
Does anyone think Gomez could work well here as our 3rd line Center? I'm not too familiar with how he plays, aside from the huge goal drought he had recently.
if cheap hes actually a good choice. complete opposite of the staals, in that he is small, agile, quick, and a good playmaker. he would probably thrive in such a smaller role in a much different market. would be better than bringing back cullen, which you know jr is thinking about. if we want that third line to push the tempo and give a mismatch against the other teams third pairing then he would be a surprisingly good choice. he has more all around talent than most of the team, and he isnt a lazy player. totally snake bit with no confidence. someone will sign him for cheap and get their moneys worth putting him in a smaller role.
I'd be fine with Gomez. If it means putting Juice on the 2nd line as a wing, Im all for it. Jussi's skills are wasted when he is put at center and I feel we should try to stack our top6 as much as possible instead of spreading around the talent.
ESPN Fantasy Hockey has Mike Card ranked #1582 this year.
For comparison, Shane Willis is ranked #1664
Jeff O'Neill #1669
All three are ranked higher than Drayson Bowman
This is fun.
OK, without the ranks, I'll just keep a running tally of the players ESPN still has draftable.
Petr Nedved
Jeff Friesen
Glen Wesley
Rhett Warrener
Nic Wallin (who apparently has had 4 concussions since going overseas, such a shame)
David Vyborny
David Tanabe
Mats Sundin
Brendan Shanahan ()
Geoff Sanderson
Joe Sakic
Jeremy Roenick
Gary Roberts
Michael Peca
Sandis Ozolinsh
Markus Naslund
Glen Murray
Mike Modano
Jaro Modry
Trevor Linden
Ollie Kolzig
Sami Kapanen
CuJo
Jan Hlavac (the hat trick)
