If we trade Skinner for Subban and Semin bolts, then we are back to having Staal(s) and little else.

On top of which, Skinner is incredibly popular here. It would be a blow to a fanbase that has been steadily growing in the past couple years despite the obvious lack of playoffs.

On top of which, JR isn't the type to lowball a GM (as seen with the J. Staal trade). If we attempt to trade for Subban, we're sending something nice back. And if we wouldn't deal Skinner for Nash, why would we send him for Subban? And who else do we have?

On top of which, Subban isn't some cure all to our defense. He is a total stud, but he still has work to do defensively. I salivate at the thought of acquiring him and playing him with Faulk, but such a move, if done in a vacuum, wouldn't fix all of our problems. It would vastly improve our defense, but we will still have holes. And such a move is sure to open other holes somewhere.

I would do Jokinen + 1st + Harrison (upgrade to McBain). If Montreal has been paying attention, they will think that we are a lotto team. That's as much as I am willing to go.

With all that said:

Boy does he look good wearing the sightless eye.

A good comparison would be the recent Turris trade, where holdout Kyle Turris, who had not lived up to potential was traded for a stud prospect David Rundblad.

Who do we have that is comparable to Rundblad? No one that I can think of.

This would be a STEAL. I would add another first, even.

I bet Philly gets him. They need the help on D and they have the balls to trade anyone.

Edmonton fans throwing **** on the ice after an iffy goalie interference call (right call in my mind. Just unfortunate timing).

I know. I'm pissed, but it seemed fitting. Plus, there's no way I win this week anyway.

It's alright, I know the feeling. Lost a shutout by Price in the last couple minutes, then Billy got a shutout from both Halak and Varlamov. That put my lead down to about nothing.

EDIT: Ouch, cost you the shutout and the win.

Karma for the Oilers and Gagner. It was a bad call...AND came late from who knows what official. The one who called the goal was pretty adamant it was a goal originally.

Yakupov's celebration...awesome.

The E.Staal hat trick is what really killed me tonight. But hey, I'm not complaining.

If I were you, I'd pick up Tyutin and swap him out for one of your defensemen. He's doing well to start the year, and it's worth a shot considering how some other players aren't contributing and won't really be a big deal to drop (Voynov, maybe).

If he stops producing, you can just drop him again and there's no harm done.

Yeah, was planning on something like that. I'll sleep on it and make a decision in the morning. Was trying to let it play out, but Voynov has done 0. Brent Burns out is also a killer, but luckily he was finally put on IR.

Or just go ahead and do it...

You trade Skinner for nothing if you're this franchise. He's the bridge between Cam Ward, Eric Staal, etc. and the new group of Hurricanes yet to be named. Fans need continuity in small markets and faces they can grow accustomed to. Skinner, for all his Bieber hype, is great for this market. That isn't even going into what his value is to this team on the ice.... which far exceeds what Subban would bring in my estimation.

Skinner is slagged relentlessly for being a 20 year old kid playing a man's game. He's not good defensively? So what. He can put the puck in the net. Right now, that's more than we can say for our fledgling group of 22-25 year old prospects of burned up potential and failed attempts at development. You have to start somewhere, and starting with Skinner's skillset is a great place. Now, we build upon what we have there as a player. We teach him defense. The game will humble him if he has trouble learning and if he's any type of competitor he will respond to that humiliation with a concerted effort to improve.

I would unhook from the Subban train to start with. He's incredibly overrated in my opinion. He's not the game changer in this discussion. Contract disputes on top of that? Get out of here.

What's the crest the Sharks are wearing this year on their sweaters?
