We keep discussing how much Sutter deserves a greater offensive role, and how well Bowman has played on his line. Maybe we could move to a Top-9 system, rather than a Top-6/Bottom-6 that we usually have. That's what I am somewhat aiming at with my proposed lineup above. Feel free to mix/match those lines as you wish.
Parenteau intrigues me....however, I'm not sure if he would be as effective working with Sutter as he would with Staal. That's why I ended up moving Tlusty down to the third line, a spot that he has shown a knack for as well.
All in all, it's just a hypothetical that just popped into my head. I never really thought about signing Parenteau until this afternoon when his name popped up in Michael Smith's Q&A session.
EDIT: I'll assume the following salaries, though they may not be close to what the players get: Parise gets the $8,250,000 that Staal earns for my scenario, $3,000,000 for Parenteau, $3,000,000 for Allen, $1,500,000 for McBain, $1,500,000 for Tlusty, $800,000 for Bowman. That puts the team at a cap space of just over $5.5 million, assuming we can make Nodl and Stewart disappear into thin air.
FORWARDS
Zach Parise ($8.250m) / Eric Staal ($8.250m) / P-A Parenteau ($3.000m)
Jeff Skinner ($1.400m) / Jussi Jokinen ($3.000m) / Tuomo Ruutu ($4.750m)
Drayson Bowman ($0.800m) / Brandon Sutter ($2.067m) / Jiri Tlusty ($1.500m)
Chad Larose ($1.700m) / Tim Brent ($0.750m) / Pat Dwyer ($0.625m)
DEFENSEMEN

If those are the signings, I agree those lines could work well. I was talking about just not signing Parenteau at all, though. Stick Tlusty in the top 6, or even given some Checkers/draft pick/prospect forward an extended look, or fall back on LaRose if necessary. I think the team would be better suited to take Parentau's 3M, Allen's 3M, manufacture another 2M somehow and throw it at Suter. Getting both is an extreme pipedream, and I don't see Suter leaving Nashville for at best a lateral move anyway, but I'd love to make a splash on the D-line as well as getting Staal his winger.

I believe (if I did my math right) we're gonna need to spend about 12m next season. Giving Parise 8 and Suter 6 comes to 14m. Going over budget by 2m ain't that bad
He plays with Kovalchuk. All of his points are illegitimate.
You don't understand! If it wasn't for Zach, Ilya would be a scrub. Just like how Claude is the only reason Scotty and that Jaroslav (or whatever his name is, he's new after all!) dude put up any points at all!
I don't care for either Pennsylvania team, but I am sure looking forward to that matchup in the playoffs! LOL at Lavi playing monkey climbing all over the boards and benches!
Just watched Andrew Ladd ****ing pwn Victor Hedman from last night's Jets/Bolts game. Ladd tried to talk reason to the kid, but he insisted on repeatedly bashing his skull into Ladd's fist.

Then Ladd skates away like a boss to finish it off. Fantastic.
I lol'ed the whole time as the TB guys kept trying to paint this as a total sucker punch by Ladd, despite the fact that Hedman kept trying to tag him with gloved lefts while the officials were trying to get in the middle of it. Rather than getting on Ladd for finally caving in and giving the kid what he was after, they should thank him for quitting early while Hedman was still upright.
A fine introduction to how things are done for young Mr. Hedman.
