Desperate times call for desperate measures. Calgary should have stripped apart that team/core a year or two or three ago.

Looks like most of that was in bonuses (IE: it still follows ELC rules so it's only about a 1.25 cap hit if he misses the bonuses). Still though, Calgary is looking desperate to refill their system. They've had a worse draft record then us from about 06 on, and like us have never really done a true rebuild. That's a disaster waiting to happen.

Seriously, I understand wanting to spend time with your family (especially after he moved his family to Colorado, apparently because he wanted them in a more right-wing state), but at his age, if he's making that decision, he should just retire.

There's no "taking the year off" in his current situation. Because when/if he returns, there's no way Rask is going to just hand over the starting spot to him.
