Bypassed Jr. FA's...

No longer eligible for the draft will be any '91s born before SEP 15th of that year --2012 is the first draft eligible year for the '94 borns before SEP 15th of that year, the 2nd eligible year for the '93 borns before SEP 15h of that year, and the final egible year for the '92 borns before SEP 15th of that year PLUS the late '91s born after SEP 14th of 1991...

SO of those '91s born before sEP 15 of 1991 who are still playing in the 3 CHL leagues and are now FA's -who stands out-if any as worthy of some nHL team signing them ?

ONE guy (I'm sure there are others) who stands out given his stats (and so it is a head scratcher as to why he never was drafted) is "KONAN THE BARBARIAN" a.k.a.

MATTHEW KONAN (D) b. sEP 3 1991 (so just missed being still draft eligible by 12 days) ---he has good size 6'3 190--- he has a great track record on +/- with his team --MEDICINE HAT TIGERS--- +21 this season ,+18 last season,+24 3 seasons ago, +3 the season before that, and + 5 in 42GP in his rookie year 5 seasons ago in 2007/08.....thus NEVER had a minus year, has been very good in =/- the last 3 years,
improved his offene over time--this year 9 goals 45 asists in 72GP,already 3 pts (1g,2a, in 2GP) in the playofs so far...SURE he is an old geezer in the league -but you can see his development in the numbers over the years....SO given that he obviously helps not hurts the team defensively and finally offensively now ,given he has good size, given he doesn't have "soft" PIM numbers but respectable ones -even big ones in 2009/10---why did he never get drafted? Does he deserve a contract as an fA now ...

SURELY in a "WEAK DRAFT" (per Brian burke, per Kyle Woodlief) some teams can make up for it by drafting older last year eligible guys --as per ANDREW SHAW last year---or even complete FA jrs. because they no longer are eligible for the draft on age..

SURELY the whole point of the draft IF the law did not force drafting 18 year olds, would be to draft on the most developed already players because then you know what you are getting-now you draft on projection & hope but with a lot more uncertainty.. so if you can sign a preetty solid defensive D-man with size and even latent offense emerging -why wouldn't you?

Any others no longer eligible that stand out as potential FA's worthy of a team sugning?
