The "Alfie" chants are suppose to say the we care and don't want him to retire.

If we did a "One more year" chant at the 11:00 minute mark of each period, I bet you he would be even more confused. By the way, are you Daniel Alfredsson? I don't think he even knows if he is coming back next year or not. I hope he does, and the chants are suppose to make his choice a little easier.

I also think the chance are really good that Alfie will be back next season, but he still keeps saying he isn't sure yet. Which means tomorrow night could be his last regular season game in ottawa EVER...

This is why it is important for fans to appreciate him right now.

I remember when Yzerman was about to hoist the cup in 1997 and everyone chanted "Stevie". I'm hoping this year I'll hear "Alfie"...or maybe have to wait till next year.

Hey Everyone,

Great job last night, it definitely got better as the night went on. Looking forward to the Boston game to see if we can keep improving.

Everyone else in the building would have thought the chant just started randomly. The count down tells people something is coming up and they were able to join in for the 2nd and 3rd periods as they did last night.

You're right, we borrowed and changed a great idea. We shouldn't have done that. We should also ban the "Go Sens Go" chant because I'm pretty sure the Leafs started that before they won their last cup. We can also forget about "let's go Ottawa..." and all the organ and drum tunes that help get the crown into the game.

The countdown worked great esp. for the 2nd and 3rd periods. The Alfie chant was out of sync. I'm wondering if there is a way to make it better. Maybe with the help of the scoreboard kind of like a karaoke type of thing? Anyone have an in with the Sens in game entertainment staff?

It would be awesome if we can get it in sync and do it for 20+ seconds! I was at the NJ OTT playoff game when Alfie scored during an Alfie chant - just insane!

Easy debbie downer, its a good idea and will get better with time. I hope this idea catches on some more and even when alfie retires, we still chant for Alfie at the 11 minute mark.

We already chant alfies name when he scores, wins a game in ot or scores a shootout goal. I like this idea and hope it becomes a tradition.

I'm sure fans shouting his name will make him retire.

Thank Alfie.

You're totally missing the idea of the chant.

All I am really saying is - in the excitement of him scoring or doing something incredible/timely as he does --- It is great. At the all star that was fantastic- really shows how much he means to us. When he does hang them up - I will probably tear up chanting Alfie Alfie Alfie at his retirement.

The point is - It sounded terrible, doesn't go with the flow of the game - the opposition could be on a pp and we starting chanting - nobody knows what is going on. It is kinda cool that the clock says 11:11. How about a count down - then ALFIE YOU THE MAN at 11;11. I don't know- He didn't even know it had anything to do with him, a reporter had to tell him - Way to go !!! Way to say thanks !! LAME.

Alittle sensitive perhaps? I think you know what I was getting at, no need to go over the top.

I'm not going to slag this anymore than I have, cause I like the intentions behind it, but you could always try, you know, doing something original?

Praise Alfie!

I don't think any other team has done an Alfie chant. Seemed original to me.

Dont think many teams treat their Captain as well as we do.

Was at the game yesterday and those chants were one of the best moments of the night. A bit disappointed that Alfie didn't catch what was going on, especially in the 3rd when there were 11:11 left and a stoppage with Alfie on the ice and then goes on the bench right before the face off

Meanwhile it did get some attention in the news:
Captain Daniel Alfredsson was being cheered as soon as his face appeared on the scoreboard screen, pre-game. An “Alfie!” chant broke with 11 minutes to go in each period — get it, No. 11 — not a ripper chant, but hey, even fans are saving a little something for the playoffs.

Thanks for the season, fans at Scotiabank Place were saying.

ELEVENTH HEAVEN? Thanks to an online campaign by a few passionate Daniel Alfredsson fans, the crowd burst out with an “Alfie, Alfie” chant with exactly 11 minutes remaining in the first period. The chant was repeated, with more fans participating, with 11 minutes left in the second and third periods.
Ken Warren, Ottawa Citizen

So, hopefully it will continue on with more support from offline fans
