Old tyme Tennesee hockey

Through another forum, I found this gem, not sure if any of you has seen it before, but if you have, it deserves a repost.

The uploader explained it better.

Quote:
My father Bennie Goodman was instrumental in bringing two sports to Nashville, Tennessee. The two sports were race cars and hockey. In the mid 60's, he purchased the Dixie Flyers (named for the train that passed through Nashville) and personally took the video seen in this upload.

He passed away a couple years ago and I recently found several 16mm reels which had never seen before footage of these two sports. Hope you have as much fun watching this as I did making it.

Isn't it amazing to see the sport played without the helmets, pads, plexiglass etc... My mother is actually sitting on the front row and I asked her how the puck didn't hit the spectators. She said, "oh it did all the time, that was half the fun!".

Simply amazing!

Don't know how many times i've watched "Gold Record" since they started showing it before games, between that and the DVD i'd say at least 10.

Little Preschooler Adz could be in that crowd. :-)

First thing I noticed was how much slower the game was...and yet to me it was fast and exciting.

The guy we sit next to at games (and have since 98) wore a Dixie Flyers jersey last game. If you really want one and can't find one I can ask where he got his.

Thanks everybody. I bet those games were fun.

I was at the New Orleans Jazz Festival one year and heard an acoustic swing band called the Dixie Flyers.
