Nathan Horton Out for Season - confirmed 4/11/12

Report from Sportsnet is that Horton is out for the season. (Ticker)

Changed thread title as I haven't seen any other media sources confirm this news. Sorry to have misled, I guess. As I have already mentioned, I was just posting what was reported on Sportsnet.

Let's get the nasty stuff out of the way: Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com has heard from a source that Nathan Horton, the Boston Bruins' playoff hero/inspiration during their run to the Stanley Cup, likely has played his last game of the 2011-12 season. From Haggs:

A source close to the right winger told CSNNE.com that there have been no extensive organizational conversations about shutting down Horton as of yet, but the B's concussed power forward "[won't be returning] anytime soon."

With six games left in the regular season after Tuesday night's tilt against the Tampa Bay Lightning, not much time is left for Horton attempt a comeback. And it doesn't appear he will be attempting that comeback soon."[They] haven't had those discussions yet, but it's not too difficult to figure it out," the source said when asked if the B's have reached a point where it makes sense to shut down Horton for the year.

Not surprised. In any event, the Bruins still have enough offensive skill / depth to make another deep run in the playoffs.

Edit: Completely forgot to add that personal health should always be your first priority. Hope he is able to get back to normal by the time training camp starts next fall! The last thing I want to see or hear about is another Savard situation where everyday well-being has been significantly reduced due to coming back too early.

Not surprising. On the plus side, he looked good when he was shown on the 9th floor during intermission.

Hope he gets better and is ready for next year.

To give credit, where credit is due: Joe Haggerty reported this first. http://www.csnne.com/hockey-boston-b...02&feedID=3352

If that's the case, then let him pour Garden ice on the road in the playoffs as long as he is out.

That's a misleading title. He's LIKELY done and there have been no official discussions between the two parties about shutting it down for the season.

We already knew both (with no discussions about shutting it down actually slighting towards better news than one could have imagined).

Denial is not just a river in Egypt....

He hasn't been skating. Last we heard he was struggling on the bike. Honestly, at this point, I'm just hoping he's ready for camp.

Said it last week, I had a bad feeling about it. Anyways he is better to take care of himself and if capable come back next year. Health is much more important. Get well soon Nathan

Thank God for Haggs!

Good news, in a way. Let him come back healthy next season. Sad he won't be here to help in the playoffs.

^ agreed. See you in September, Nate. Take your time, rest up, and hopefully you'll be raring to go for camp. Savvy and Sid (Bergy too) have shown us that patience is the formula with concussed brains. Take all the time you need.

Unless the next CBA puts a cap on 2nd contracts, if Seguin continues his upward trajectory that $8mil will be his.

Yes,the B's do have enough offensive depth to make another deep run if Rolston can keep playing the way he is .I love the effort he gave on the 3rd goal tonight.
