Like we have 36 games to play without him.

What? Oh really?

I feel like chewing a whole newspaper. Maybe I'll leave out the advertisements. Leave room for other surprising news.

I can't say Im surprised ....

I think alot of us could tell this was headed in this direction ....get better Horty, and savvy too for that matter !

If he does return it will be a bonus but I truly feel the bruins have enough firepower to make another run and there is no point in rushing him back (see savard)

Again, get better soon and keep that water bottle handy!!!

We're a left winger concussion away from having the best All-Concussion line in hockey.

PS - no suspensions...cowardly ********!

You know, every once in a while David Branch gets something right.

Who is Nathan Horton anyways? I guess it doesn't matter because Sid's back!

sucks to ear, but it was expected.

Get well Horty. Get your head right and then come back and pot some goals next year.

Sucks to hear. The Bruins seem to have balanced scoring on their second and third lines...that first line will be missing Horton a lot though.

The key, before the offense is the goaltending. That granted, we need Rolston to step up (that is, continue stepping up) his offensive game, and the Lucic-Krejci-Seguin line to stay solid defensively.

Maybe Lucic-Krejci-Seguin is a more potent offensive line than the same with Horton and Seguin with Marchand?

Let's get the nasty stuff out of the way: Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com has heard from a source that Nathan Horton, the Boston Bruins' playoff hero/inspiration during their run to the Stanley Cup, likely has played his last game of the 2011-12 season. From Haggs:

A source close to the right winger told CSNNE.com that there have been no extensive organizational conversations about shutting down Horton as of yet, but the B's concussed power forward "[won't be returning] anytime soon."

With six games left in the regular season after Tuesday night's tilt against the Tampa Bay Lightning, not much time is left for Horton attempt a comeback. And it doesn't appear he will be attempting that comeback soon."[They] haven't had those discussions yet, but it's not too difficult to figure it out," the source said when asked if the B's have reached a point where it makes sense to shut down Horton for the year.

Still waiting for Shanahan's ruling on the hit. It's only been about 2 months.

may be true, but 'news flashes' with anonymous sources like this really bother me. Until I hear it from Horton I will retain some optimism.

I think most of us had already reached this conclusion. Horton isn't skating and the season's almost over, so it's logical to conclude that he's run out of time. Even if he started skating tomorrow and got cleared to play before the end of the playoffs, odds are he wouldn't be effective.

Exactly. To me, any announcement about him being done for the year is pretty much a formality. The guy has been out for a long time now, and you don't jump back into the thick of the playoffs and contribute in any meaningful way after that type of layoff.

Not his next contract, maybe the one after he will get closer to 6 but I don't see him around 8

Hopefully Nathan fully recovers from this

This sounds more like rumors with math involved (as in =if Horton isn't skating now he probably won't be returning soon) rather than anything official. However, I think the math is probably the best prediction here. When Horton didn't come back within a few weeks, and wasn't riding the bike, I suspected he was going to be done.

Horton doesn't appear to be ready, and if he isn't, then what's best for Horton (and the team's future) is to let him sit out the post season and come back hopefully in the fall.

Sucks for Horton and I am still angry that Shanahan did absolutely nothing with regards to Sestito, but then karma got Sestito.

Unfortunate, not unexpected and I think this will only benefit Horty heading into the season next year. Our boys will use his absence as inspiration for their run to a consecutive cup hoisting!!

This was the right thing to do IMO

I'd be ecstatic if he's playing at his full potential in time for NEXT year's playoffs.

See: Crosby, Sidney; Savard, Marc

We already knew both (with no discussions about shutting it down actually slighting towards better news than one could have imagined).
No way they risk his long term health and functionality as a normal person. To put him in the play-offs as his first game action would be criminal.

Nate didn't feel himself to start the season... I wish maybe he didn't start this year and healed up.... I hate Sestito, but that hit was hardly one that looked like one that would shelve a guy without a concussion history... Didn't take much, much like Hunwick on Savard....

Yup, been there done that with Savvy vs Flyers, no thanks, if anything, this is a move by the Bruins that I believe other players in the league will appreciate too.

Selfish Bruin fan in me wants him to play
Human side of it, don`t do it, let him take the summer and hopefully be 100% symptom free, healthy and ready for 2012/2013

Not even the Bruins fan in me wants him to play. He's not ready, and he wasn't ready to start the year. When Savard came back vs Philly, other than that GW goal, what else did he do that series?

I'm more comfortable with the lineup they've been icing since he went down than I would be with Horton back in there, to be honest.

Oh I hear ya, I made a statement here, almost a month ago that was attacked that if he (Horty) didn`t or couldn`t come back for, at the very least 4 to 5 regular season games, I wouldn`t even think about shutting him down, I`d just do it
