Yes. I'd prefer he takes the "extra" time and get himself back into game shape. Let's not forget that even if he isn't exhibiting symptoms, he still hasn't played a game in months.

Not sure how in love I am with the idea of him getting his sea legs during the most important and unforgiving time of the year.

Still...wouldnt it be something if he did return? I can't be the only one secretly hoping. It would be a huge boost.

Cue the "I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night and in my expert medical opinion, he needs exactly 6 more months of rest before he can play again" posts, ad nauseam.

I have said this before, if the doctors clear him to play and he wants to play, he will play. No reason not to. As we have seen many times now, there is no predicting when a concussion will occur.

My concern is if he is cleared and wants to play, will he be the Horton we know.

If he does come back, I can't see it happening until the second round. He still has to go through contact in practice and he can't be in game shape.

We're all hoping, for sure. My issue is how tentative he played after the first concussion, for months, and how mild the hit was that put him out this time.

He was tentative, at times, but not too tentative to score 17 goals in 46 games.

Problem is, in the playoffs, there aren't 46 games to let him find his groove and stop playing with caution.

For sure, but I'm not so sure that really means anything the second time around, especially when we're talking about playoff hockey versus the regular season

Understood, and I'm not pushing to rush him back either.

As I said before, if he's ready for NEXT year's playoffs, I'm a happy camper!

Why does everyone assume Horton will be in Boston next year?

I don't give him a contract unless he takes a series pay cut and 1 year deal. We have seen first hand how having a fragile top 6 forward and 4 million in cap space can effect a teams depth.....

Sad to say but I hope management will have to make the decision to replace his production

Well....I can't speak for "Everyone" but I was under the impression that Horton was under contract for another year.

For some reason Capgeek is blocked at work for me, but I'm almost 100% sure he is.

Another aspect of Horton's return, is that he probably really wants to come back. This could be his last shot at a cup and actually finish the playoffs. Say what you will about long term health, but it isn't really a consideration, until it is forced upon a player with a diminishing prospects.
