Burke will have to pull off some shrewd trades this summer.

What did the Janitor do to deserve being called a bum? I believe they prefer being called custodians over janitors tho.

This is gonna be looked upon as one of the worst Collapses not just in Hockey but in all NA sports.

This is worse than the Boston and Atlanta collapses in the MLB last year. Only the Pirates of Pittsburg are keeping us from being the biggest failure in all sports over a 7 year stretch.

Minnesota had a worse slide this season.

But yeah, the Leafs will make it to the record books.

I've considered them to have little to no chance at the playoffs for about a month now, this mathematical elimination means nothing.

With that being said, if Florida make the playoffs this year (and they look like a virtual lock), I believe the Leafs will be the only team in the entire league to have not made the playoffs since the lockout? This is with the most financial support of any team in the league, and we don't even have any draft picks better than Schenn or Kadri to show for all this failure. Truly we have been the worst managed team in the post-lockout era, BY FAR.

As others have pointed out, not as bad as Minny this year, Colorado the year before, or endless other collapses. Pathetic, but not historic.

Boston (and ATL, but especially Boston) had a far bigger collapse. There were those who thought they'd win 100 games and some in the Boston media were proclaiming them to be the greatest team ever. With all the talent and multiple MVP contenders on their team, they had a huge collapse and when everything was in their hands on the last game of the season they lose to the AL-East cellar dwelling Orioles on a botched play by Crawful after they worked their star closer to the bone. And being eliminated because TB won with a walk-off in extra innings shortly after being down to the Yankees by something like 6-0.

The Leafs collapse was huge but I don't think it compares.

Look at the bright side boys. We still have our first and second round picks. Hopefully we find a player.

Just coming to give my condolences. Like I've said before, the Leafs are the only Canadian team I like. It's crazy how the most loyal fans in the league are never rewarded with anything.

No they were, Buffalo is poised for that eighth spot in the Eastern Conference. Washington, Winnipeg and Tampa have a chance. Don't be delusional about your team, and your city shouldn't be bad mouthing goalies.

Thanks. We're like the Knicks of the NHL, but a bit more cursed.

It's quite possible you will have completed a doctorate before they next win a playoff round.

I gotta say, we're REALLY good at tanking without even knowing that we're tanking.

The whole situation is just laugh out loud pathetic. We're presented with the same holes in the team we had couple of years ago.
