Worst Young Goalie Tandem
What's the worst young goalie tandem in Leafs history?
Allan Bester and Ken Wregget of the mid to late 1980s
Peter Ing and Jeff Reese of the early 1990s
James Reimer and Jonas Gustavsson of the 2010s

Exactly.
I still find it hard to believe that the last three General Manager of the Maple Leafs believed Toskala could be a starting goalie in the NHL.

Toskala and Raycroft were good prior coming to the Leafs

Raycroft was rookie of the year. But his second year was worse than the season Reimer is having. Toskala was a back up with San Jose and had never been a number one goalie in the NHL.

Remember that thread "isn't it great we have two #1 goalies now" that was the good old days.

That was such a jinx thread. Both our goalies started sucking after that.

This isn't a tandem, it's a trio.
Reimer, Gustavson and Rynass.
Our problems are solved!

I love how the OP says "of the 2010's" when in fact this is the only season our goaltending has been below par with these two.

Reese and Ing were only around for a couple of years too, and we're only a couple of years into the 2010s... And Gustavsson has been terrible every year he's been here and Reimer has been terrible for half his career...

Haha nice one.
Also, kind of funny that Craig Simpson told the Leafs not to draft him, and now he has to do play by play for them...

Yeah that was good.
I choose his goaltending, we never had to see or hear him on the bench.

I never realized how spoiled I was from getting to watch Curtis Joseph and then Eddie Belfour between the pipes until I was fed a steady diet of Vesa Toskala, Andrew Raycroft and Jonas Gustavsson.

Hell yeah. Back in those days when I was younger and a lot less knowledgeable, I thought goaltending was nothing too important. Potvin, Joseph and Belfour all came in and made it seem routine. I thought all NHL teams had average goalies while maybe a handful of teams had great ones (Roy, Brodeur, Hasek).
Nowadays, I can firmly say we have had
bad goalies and would kill for something average. Never seen a team get destroyed by goaltending for so many years while trying so many different options.

Technically it would be Mark LaForest/Jeff Reese as seen here:

Although I liked LaForest....and I absolutely loved Ken Wregget. I was totally choked when we traded Wregget away to Philly......
Goalies I hated: Tellqvist, Kidd, Toskala, Raycroft, Ing, Puppa....

Unfortunately, I didn't get to watch either of those two so all I've seen are Raycroft, Toskala, Gus, Giguere, Reimer, Gerber and how sad is it that Gerber might have given us one of the better stretches of goaltending post-lockout?
What a terrible collection pile of garbage.

I don't understand what happened to Kidd. He was completely useless in the NHL.

Man, we suck at drafting/trading for keepers. Bring back Ed Belfour.

Recently, it would be Toskala and a 41 year old Cujo.
