You know, unlike many I love Evander Kane, but MAN does he give a wooden interview...
(although I also despise Landsberg, so maybe that's the reason why)
It's disappoint ting that the best interviews these days are generally from Europeans that haven't been schooled on interviews since they were in midget hockey.
Kane was very careful how he answered each question & I don't think that he cares too much for Landsberg.
I haven't even seen the interview (no flash on my iPad) but it will be a stock, can't say the wrong thing because every word in analyzed and the PC police will burn me at the stake if I say something wrong, interview. Every Canadian first rounder takes a course on it.
Edit: finally saw the interview. My statement from before I even said it stands.
I was thinking a bit about the dick that started all the rumors and twitter hatred towards Kane. What do you think the odds are that in a previous decade someone wouldn't have shown up at the guys door and clocked him.
Landsberg. He comes across as a huge dick, which he probably is.
Agree and his interview style is weird. Its almost as if he's not even listening, he asks the next question before the person is barely finished answering.
on a side note Hustler is suppose to be on Off The Record Thursday. These things can get bumped but I am looking forward to that...........he is one of the good guys!!
I am sure Kane does feel like he is living in a fish bowl and would prefer to stay home.........hopefully the entire year (good and bad, truth’s and lies) will be a learning experience for him. He made some mistakes off the ice this year and got things rolling in the wrong direction early and sadly it took on a life form and allot of piling on happened. The good news for EK is that it got so carried away that I think it all turned back in his favor and people stated feeling sorry for the guy. TNSE circled the wagons around him and Kane did a good job getting with the new program. Things really calmed down after he returned from his concussion. Next year is a fresh start and nothing happened this season that is irreparable for a 20 year olds image that can't be taken care of with on ice performance and following the PR peoples plan (insert OTR interview)
hopefully his contract negotiations take a normal path this summer.....EK let your agent do the work and QUIETLY get the best deal possible but please don't do a Drew Doughty, Keith Tkachuk, Kyle Turris high profile negotiation

Tkachuck doesn't belond in the same category as Doughty or Turris. Tkachuck had a valid contract and held out for a better deal. Doughty and Turris didn't have a contract and were free agents free to negotiate however they chose.

I agree with your point I am saying that as a young player there are ways to get your pay day that are high profile or low profile. Turris got his move and maybe it all works out for him but I think he mismanaged the situation........Drew got his but it wasn't great for his image (maybe neither of these guys care)........Keith got his as well but I never really forgave him for the high jacking (not that he cares)........just saying Evander could get a nice equitable deal done pretty easily this summer and continue to work on his image or he could chose another path. In my opinion the incremental difference in cash might not be worth it. However that’s easy for me to say it’s not my contract.
More specifically I would not want to see Evander go down the Kyle Turris path.
y'know, even if you buy the "PR protection mode" possiblity, I still think he could have said something like " well, I got out a bit and enjoyed the winter weather - did a bit of ice fishing, some outdoor skating at the forks, you know - took advantage of the winter activities a bit. Winnipeg's a great place." I mean even if its a load of BS it sounds better than "my house."

Totally agree with this. Sometimes he starts asking his next question before the interviewee has even finished answering the last question.

People are looking for too much in this. It was off the top of his head. Could have asked a 20 year old New York Ranger the same thing and he'd probably say home off the top of his head. I mean what's he supposed to say ... the New Yorker ... "the VIP section at the club, with some fine *****es", then get into a heap of trouble?
At 20 years old a New Yorker isn't going say "oh, I enjoy the beautiful art galleries, maybe the odd wine and cheese.", and Kane certainly isn't going to about Winnipeg either.
Remember, these guys travel A LOT. Home is nice when you can get it.
