The thing is - that's a common practice in Russian sports. I even know people who did that in the past. So it's believable.
Yeah, that first article is a blog post by Nikita Filatov, but commenters talk CSKA youngsters in there.
PS Anyway, I don't want my team to pick him. If he's 21, that's a pick thrown away.

Brouwer costed us one late first round pick. Gagner... two mid-firsts? You gotta be kidding.

gagner is younger, has more upside, and most importantly already produces more points.

a couple of mid 1sts for a 45 point rfa isn't ridiculous.

not like your getting a 1st line talent.

Is he physical? I didn't watch him much but looking at his size I can't believe he's a power forward.

Yes it is. The fact that you think it's not is ridiculous.

OK, we have A TON of re-made players and it doesn't spoil their attempts to be drafted along with Filatov, Voynov and Kugryshev on this draft. About Grigorenko, there was a mistake while re-making and boy got three years dropped, he'd stand out less playing against 1993.

So what they did, they just changed DOB. He's three years older than he's listed.

Much more (and much more credible) stuff here.
Rumors.

"Слухи о переделке ходят уже давно, минимум лет 8-9. "
"Слухов ходило много, ажиотаж подогревало, что его тетя главврач в роддоме, где он родился."

I know it's rumors there, but I believe it (and I have a lot of reasons to do so). And watching him play... I'm sure more and more.
Why did you put that in bold?

To point out. Those are not facts.

Some guys on Russian forum running their mouth. Not a credible source.

May as well start one that "Grigs has male and female organs".

The thing is, you won't get any facts on this topic. But even if it's just talks, I think it's too risky to pick him that high.
Those guys are usually close to the school, especially guy who talked about how kids asked Grigorenko about school program to figure out if he's older and has already learnt some things. And I have credible confirmation... Own source.

Well, that's equally as absurd of a concept.

Again, players with one year until UFA don't return the same kind of trade value as players 8 years from UFA.

You'd probably be able to get Rick Nash for that. But you'd have to add roster players and that'd be were it stops.

Gagner actually is pretty physical. Even though he is not big he will fight and stick up for team mates, makes hits and gets involved.

Mojo is almost already if not already better than Gagner, why pay that price for a slight upgrade is any at all?

Keep your picks and pray the Capitals brass can talk Kuznetsov into coming over here.

After that, have Ovie recruit Radulov big time, it would be a good start. Maybe that would help Kuznetsov's decision as well...

I think a Washington fan, who isn't trying to be difficult, can understand what I was saying. The price for Getzlaf is more than Washington would be willing to pay.

Here's a better question. Do you think either of those picks stand a good chance at being better players than the ones you listed? 1/3 of first round draft picks bust.

The only player from that list the Caps could get for those picks is Pleks.

#2, Schenn

for

#10,#11, Carlson, Alzner?

Remember the last few 2nd overalls have been home runs, so Toronto might not make the deal.

There is no way in hell you'd convince any Caps fan to do that trade for Alzner and Carlson, yet alone for both their picks. Try not to be a homerism troll in every single post.

Plekanec could be had for that cost. I agree, it's a little steep, but perhaps Nattinen could be added into the mix.

Most of the first-rounder busts were picked between #18-#30.
