If there is any justice in the hearts of the hockey gods, never. Tankers should never be rewarded.
I really don't think they've been doin it on purpose, they just haven't been able to improve their defense at all.
I find the notion that organizations try to lose on purpose absurd. Every team in the league goes into the season trying to win the cup, no matter how unlikely that is.

Penguins for Lemieux is well documented. Playing minor leaguers in spades in the final week of the season.
Edmonton makes the sexy pick each year which is always a forward, that is why they suck.

*trying to build a Cup winning team*
*trying to get in the postseason, take one step at time*
But yeah, organisations or better to say hockey teams losing on purpose is the biggest bull**** I`ve ever heard.
If he did that in an actual game that would be the greatest hockey moment to date
It has happened, Tiger Williams used to celebrate like this occasionally.

They're still talking rebuild. They basically tore down their team after the 2006 Cup Final miracle run, and haven't even attempted to challenge since. Every year they dump veterans and play the kids. The fans know what's up.

This has something to do with it too. Edmonton fans don't seem to understand what good defence is anymore, I had one trying to convince me that Smid is a quality top pairing defenceman.
get up, turn around, and clock whoever did what to you. not get up and pretend to be a sedin and look for a ref anywhere and everywhere. but dont worry sid, bettman was watching, and he soiled himself. 3 goats will be sacrificed to make amends. and all will be well in the universe again.
Smid has really improved his game this season, but lmao.
They will take a D this year though.
I've argued with Oilers fans about this on the Prospect board. I'm convinced that they will take Murray. IMO they would be idiots to take another forward.

They could still take a top d-man (Murray, Trouba, Dumba, Reinhart, Reilly) and they would pick up another asset. Probably something good because a lot of people will be after Yakupov if the pick is up for grabs.
