Can we realistically keep O'Reilly, Stastny and Duchene?

If O'Reilly and Duchene both get big contracts this off season, I'd say O'Reilly in the 3.5-4 millions range and Duchene in the 4.5-5 millions range. Can we realistically keep all 3 of them and have almost 15 millions locked up in 3 centres?

Yep, I expect Stastny's salary to go down, no way he's making 6.6M per year again imo.

If Stastny hits 70+ again for the next two years, I could see 6M max.
If he's played like a 50+ point forward with decent defense then 4.5 max.

If pittsburgh can keep crosby malkin and staal we shouldnt have too tough a time keeping our three the avs are far away from having cap problems

Of course the Avalanche can realistically keep all three of them. Like others said, while O'Reilly and Duchene will be receiving raises, Stastny's next extension will be at a lower value. No way he will receive $6.6 mil again (unless he cranks up his play, which I am more than ok with)

I wouldn't be shocked to see Stastny not come back. Sagrbossa or Hishon even could sneak in and take his spot as the 2nd line center (or 3rd line centers depending on how Duchene/RoR progress).

I wouldn't be shocked to see that at all.

Duchene has not shown enough this season to get a long-term big money contract. IMO, if he gets big money it will be for a short term, while if he signs long term it'll be at a team friendly price.

It shouldn't be a problem at all with how much cap space we have.

Like many other users are saying, unless Stastny improves his game he will have to take a pay cut.

It's looking like all three will be over the $5M mark though.

That certainly isn't a bad thing since we could move one of them in the future to help the team in other pressing needs. This team has always been a center producing factory, even since the Nordiques days.

I agree. I'd give him 2 years and $7-8M. There's no way I'd give him John Tavares' contract.

We can easily keep those 3, the question is if someone will come in and supplant them down the line.

If you compare centers across the league, we have a top 5, 4-deep team.

Keeping them will put a few prospects centers on the wing , Olver ,Sgarbossa , Hishon and Connolly

It would be great if one of our prospects developed enough to take one of their spots.

Would make for a valuable trade chip, assuming their value remains the same or higher.

I doubt it. If Duchene stinks it up next year, he's gone. If Duchene lights it up next year, Stastny is gone.

Seriously, that would probably be the case. Even if management does expect offense out of him, he's more than functional as a role player.

Matt Duchene and Paul Stastny if one has 70 points and the other has 40? Not so much; especially with Stastny and his salary. The pressure is on for him to have a big 60+ point season.

How the hell can Pittsburgh afford to keep both Crosby and Malkin (2 best players in the world right now) and not to mention Letang, Staal and MAF, and the Avs can't keep O'Reilly, Duchene and Stastny?

I don't see why Avs can't keep this guys if the Pens can keep those players i mentioned. I mean Malkin or Crosby just one of this players is better than O'Reilly, Duchene, Stastny combined.

Because Crosby/Malkin can make guys like Cooke and Dupuis be point producers, Duchene/Stastny/O'Reilly don't have those skills, we have to surround them with good players to get the most out of them.

Yeah well, it's not like t he Avs have surrounded Stastny, Duchene, O'Reilly with super star players who make tons of money.

Downie-not exactly a star player
Jones-not exactly a star player
Mueller-who is a healthy scratch right now

The only winger with star potential who will eventually make alot of money is Landeskog.
