So on that espn ranking of the top 500 players they have Ricky Romero at 77. Behind pitchers like Mat Latos, Yu Darvish and Michael Pineda. What a joke
And Lawrie at 83. I know he's not proven yet, but I wouldn't trade him for a single bat I saw listed 50-82.
Wow, people are going to see how amazing Lawrie is this season, they'll be blown away. The fact that he's already at 83 as a rookie (well not really but still), it's incredible.
I remember when I went to the Alomar Number Retirement. Every single seat was taken in the skydome, I've never seen it at max capacity. Robbie steps up to the mic and says "Look at all these fans". Later on he points to the Jays players in the dugout and says "Let's go". That gets me pumped up for the season. Don't care if they're bandwaggoners or castoffs or what have you, as long as there's more butts in the seats I'm happy.
I am not a fairweather fan (or else I wouldn't be a Leafs fan ), but I have started following baseball lately; and is it fair to say that if Jays repeat 50% of what they did in ST, that would do wonders for this team?
PS: I had decided to follow Jays before ST began, so you can truly rule me out as fairweather fan.

No hipsters here, we welcome all kinds anyways.
Spring training is spring training. Good to see us doing well but it usually doesn't mean too much.
Whats the deal with Gomes? Is he going to be starting the season with the Jays or is he back to AAA to split time with D'A?
He won't be with the Jays. There's no room. They've already got Jeff Mathis as the backup C after trading for him (or signing him as a FA. I can't remember which). He might not even end up in AAA either. They've got d'Arnaud starting and apparently Brian Jeroloman was reacquired in the off-season even after they lost him on waivers to the Pirates or some such team. And with Cooper and McDade manning 1st, it's possible that Gomes ends up having to go to New Hampshire (AA) and be the catcher there. Probably splitting time with another prospect too. Jimenez maybe?

Jays have a huge oppurtunity to take over the Toronto sports scene if they can win alot of games this season.
Man I just wish we had one more solid #3/4 starter and I would be convinced this team can make noise.
It's not the number of wins but rather if they're contending in August/September then people will show up. Kind of hard for people to get pumped up and go to games when you're 10 games back by early June. Over the years I've heard excuses about the stadium and the prices and the atmosphere. Bottom line is none of those things matter when this team starts contending. We are dying for a winner in this city if the Jays can at least be in contention for either of the WC spots then this city will get behind them. I'm telling you this city is ready to explode for a winner.
