Trying to figure out what the probable batting order is to start the year.

Escobar
Johnson
Bautista
Lind
Encarnacion
Rasmus
Lawrie
Thames
Arencibia

That seem about right? Everything seems to fall into place, but it just seems odd to have Thames down that low after he hit 2nd for a while last year.

Spot on. He was hitting 2nd while we had Hill on the team but now that we got Johnson he's a more suitable 2 hole hitter.

Escobar and KJ will flip back and forth with the ebs and flows of the regular season.

Rasmus, Lawrie and Thames will be juggled depending on pitching matchups and who's hot at the time. I see Lawrie hitting 6th full time by around June. Thames will struggle in April as he gets used to a different spot in the lineup which brings a different hitting mentality with it. Despite that Thames will still have a respectable year. 20 bombs, around 50-60 rbi.

JPA is a mainstay for the 9th slot. He'll pick up the scraps with a few bombs. Good turnover.

Good. It means I was right before when I needed the order to do.... something. Something of no importance whatsoever. In fact, you should probably disregard this message because it is meaningless and will only cost you valuable moments of your life that you will not get back and will have gained no value from by reading the words contained herein.

Carry on...

Farrell better be more flexible in his lineup this year and if Lind continues to hit like **** a month or two into the season he better be dropped down in the lineup.

By the end of the year (if no major trades happen) I expect to see the Lineup as

Escobar
Johnson
Bautista
Lind
Lawrie
Thames
Arencibia
Rasmus

I want my 1 minute of time spent reading that pointless post back. However, because time travel is impossible, as of right now anyways, I'm now wasting your time by making you read this. Cheers.

Joke's on you. It only took me 4 seconds to read that. And another 20 or so to type this. So on balance I still come out ahead by about 36 seconds!

They're going to try and sneak Bautista up there twice per run through the order.

How long till Cecil is moved or placed in the bullpen. At 87 he doesnt have the control to be a majorleague pitcher. We are lucky Drabek is emerging.

the coaching staff has apparently been pleased with how he's pitched this spring in spite of the velocity drop. Even without pinpoint command he could still do just fine if he can change speeds and make use of all his pitches. He still will probably be passed as better prospects move up the ranks though.

That is a terrible trade. His spring numbers are terrible and I would not give up any of our prospects for him.

PTBNLs are rarely, if ever, anything of any remote value. I wouldn't expect it to be any of the prospects we've ever heard of. It'll likely end up being some veteran minor leaguer who has zero chance of making it to the big leagues.

All I can think of is a AAA closer. He has decent K numbers and a mid 90's fastball.

At this point he is guaranteed to be a starter so I doubt they say anything that may discourage him. At his best with 90/91 velo and good control he was still a 4 FIP. He is temporary at best IMO.

You rarely see lose-lose trades, but the Wells one can safely qualify. Rivera did **** all here, got traded for nothing, then started playing well in LA. Napoli got traded right away for an abysmal Francisco and became amazing in Texas. On the other side, Anaheim has an albatross (2nd highest paid in baseball) that had the worst BA of all starting LFs. The Scott Gomez of baseball.

Pretty sure the Jays won just by getting rid of that contract....

Despite Napoli's great year last year, I think its pretty much a consensus that the Wells trade was one of the most lopsided trades in years....
