Islanders sign Goaltender John Grahame

https://twitter.com/#!/stapenewsday

Arthur Staple ‏ @StapeNewsday
#Isles have agreed to terms with G John Grahame on a deal to run through end of this season. Last played in NHL w/CAR in 07-08 season.

Arthur Staple ‏ @StapeNewsday
Grahame, 36, was coaching w/Sioux City of USHL. Pending physical, he'll likely join #Isles on Friday so K. Poulin can return to BPT.

You'd think they at least could have found someone who was actually playing somewhere this season.

Lol, was just going to say so Montoya is hurt again? Forgot though, Nabakov got hurt!

Umm, about 2 or 3 weeks ago they said DP was practicing again why don't they just throw him back in there. It's perfect time for him to get his next injury out of the way so he can get it surgically repaired/replaced during the offseason and be ready to go in October!

Pretty much.

This is pretty embarrasing. Nobody else is available that has played in the last 4 years?

Although I agree wit the concensus, adn this is def laughable, but in their defense with Nilsson injured and only an ATO in Clarke in Bridgeport, Poulin def needs to be down there. BPT is playoff bound and can't afford for it to all fall apart now.

Now of course, they def could have found someone who has played hockey this season, but c'mon its the Islanders.

I could think of a bunch of goalies we could probably have for the balance of the season that are active.

Leighton, Lawson, Sabourin, Danis (though I think he's playing pretty well in the AHL)

Yet Garth reaches deep in the satchel and pulls out a goalie that hasn't played professionally (or even organized hockey) in almost a year? Weird.

The worst part is he's not eligible for the playoffs

Yikes why not bring in Mike Mole, Frederic Cloutier or Joel Martin while we're at it

barring any freakish injury to Montoya this will lead him with more playing time and hopefully we can resign him as well.

as for DP practicing... I dont want to rush our star goalie after his injury. We should just give him time to heal and let him start the season fresh and ready to contribute to our season.

THE REBUILD IS OVER FOLKS!!!

Guess Nabby is seriously hurt?

Montoya getting the rest of the starts, Grahame may get 1.

Yep, this is how we should see it.

Nothing more than a back-up so that Poulin/Nilsson can finish up strongly in BPort.

They have 13 more games and are ANYTHING but assured of a playoff spot.

Grahame is just the emergency guy... and if he plays, then we'll get that much better a draft spot.

Snow was going to go back in, until he realized all of his goalie equipment is illegal in today's NHL
