Shultz would be so often. I believe it was Bob Mckenzie who retweeted someone who said something like "Shultz may return to school next season, all depending on if the NHL has a lock-out season"
Ah here it is: @AndyBaggotWSJ: Could Justin Schultz return for his senior season at Wisconsin? "There's still a chance," he said. It's all tied to a possible NHL lockout.
Rumour going around Schultz might be going back to school next season. I don't see it happening, though. Sounds like he's making excuses for his delayed decision.
Here is what he said yesterday:
“In my heart I know I can play up there,” Schultz said after a Wednesday morning workout at the Kohl Center. “We just feel that it’s best just to focus on my school (work) and get this year done with.
“We feel it’s best to finish out the school year and then look at my options and then see what’s best for me.”
Sounds as if he will be turning pro next season unless there is a lockout.
Schultz, a life sciences communication major, offered this ray of hope to UW fans: If there’s a lockout “there’s still a chance for me coming back” to school, he said.
But make no mistake, Schultz is poised to become the 15th underclassman to leave the Badgers and turn pro since 2004. It would mark the seventh consecutive year Eaves has lost at least one player prior to his senior season.
“Yeah, I think I’m ready,” Schultz said. “My defensive game got a lot better this year and I continued to improve everything.
“I’ve done enough here and I think it’s time for me to move on.”

"I'm going to leave the Ducks, become a UFC, and sign the same contract anywhere in the NHL... I like Kelowna... Edmonton is, well, nothing like Kelowna, but I can drive there, and they're young and terrible, and even though the Canucks are my hometown team, Stanley Cup contenders, and would have a spot for me in their Top 6, I think I'll just go with the Oilers. They have some young players."

I don't see it.
He's going to the UFC?

I told ya so. I was right all along!
Detroit's 1st is going to be between 22-30. So lets just say 22nd overall and 35th overall for Luongo. That is a horrendous return.
The first one is more manageable to me, as our first isn't likely to return much and Raymond is RFA. I dont see why they would want him added.
Yakupov for Schneider and a 1st is pretty good value for both squads IMO.
I like Yakupov enough to move Schneider for him. I thought I read somewhere that the Canucks were his favourite team too.
Im starting to think we might just hang on to Schneider and let the summer of 2013 be the summer of change...
We may hang on to Schneider but there isn't a feasible way to keep Luongo at the same time.
I think Luongo will have more value than we think. He's a fraction below Lundqvist in SV% since the lockout and his $5.3m cap hit is pretty great. The length is ridiculous but he won't be playing it out. The only problem with moving him is the possible destinations would make for a short list.
Scott Howson comes to Gillis at the draft and offers the 1st overall for Schneider, 1st and Raymond
OR
Choice 2
Stevie Yzerman comes to us and offers the Wings 1st plus their 2nd for Luongo, Luongo agrees to waive, Schneider signs.
What would you guys rather have happen?
I don't agree with these deals being equivalent, but that notwithstanding, if you went with deal #1 and drafted Yakupov, would you put him on the roster next year?
I admittedly don't know too much about the kid, but I would prefer to develop prospects, especially top talent, slowly. For example, if this deal was made last year, and RNH was Canucks property, I reckon he'd go back to the CHL and rip it up in red deer and the WJC even if he made the team.

both. then sign parise, put ballard on the hatcher/rathje eternal IR, trade the TB picks for weber's RFA rights, then sign vokoun to a league minimum contract and ride him and lack as a tandem.
oh, and somehow get forsberg here too. i want a fourth line of schroeder, forsberg, kassian.
I got 65-67. Giving Parise 7M, Garrison 3.5M, Shultz 900k and Salo 1M. If we take out Manny that would leave us more room for Garrison, and Parise. This also depends on if Salo would be open to a smaller role(he can def still play.) Also it could change if we decide to go with Schnu in the future, but that top 9 would be great.
I don't think Luongo would hold all that much value due to size of the contract and NMC, if we're moving him it's so he can be closer to his family that he doesn't get to see. Not many teams Luongo would waive for TBL would be one of them because he'll be really close to his family and will be able to see them, going from Oct - at least April without seeing your family would be tough on any relationship. I'm starting to believe Luongo may be moved as his life has changed a lot since he signed the contract, his wife was living in Vancouver then. Florida to Vancouver is far far far away, this has to be really tough on the guy and because of this recent change in his life I could see Luongo moved.
As for the Schneider trade there are lots of rumours how Scott Howson wants Schneider, he even turned down Bernier, given this draft is a Russian top heavy and CBJ bad track record with Russians I don't see them wanting anything to do with it, they need goaltending and don't have a lot of value we'd want, that pick or Johanson and I don't see them moving him.
I'm pretty torn with what I'd prefer keeping Schneider is priceless, a young top elite goalie who will keep goaltending as a non-issues for years! is hard to let go. But Luongo is a strong goalie, top 5, and his playing style and size will more than likely help him be a great goalie for a long time and adding a top pick to a cup contender is pretty tempting. We need someone to build the offence around after the Twins era, these guys will be 32 years old to start the next season, so these guys are nearing the end of their career, with maybe 4ish more years left, this would put Yakupov at 22 years old that looks like good timing for a young stud to take over.
First choice, and it's not even close. Yakupov has too much potential to pass up on, but that would never happen. Not enough value going to Columbus in first deal. And not enough value coming back to Vancouver in the second deal.

Maybe not enough but if I said Hodgson for Kassian before trade deadline people would say not enough value going back to Vancouver, it'll be a hockey move, fixing a huge need for CBJ.

RNH was one of the least-ready prospects out of recent first overall picks. Yakupov is not as slight as RNH and could look nice on the right of Booth and Kesler. Ah, to dream.
