Hopefully, a new coach will see what Potter really is. A popcorn muncher.

So in other words a decent loss. I can live with that. I hate Dallas though.

Then why the F did he pair Petry with Potter? How can Renney possibly explain that? What a dummy.

The positive of this loss besides the improved draft standing is that this is one game closer to Renney being canned or at least one can hope.

If both hit their potential, Grigorenko without a doubt

These are our keepers on defence:

Smid-Petry
Whitney-Schultz

And Sutton is the seventh guy. The other two spots need serious upgrades. Period.
Thats how I have it as well and even Whitney depends on his rehab. He may be a 5-6 guy if the summer doesn't help him. I think we either need to bring in two 3-4 guys or one 3-4 guy and draft Murray, I could live with that.

If we draft Grigerenko, I hope they still hold onto Gagner and let the two battle for the #2C position. Grigs need to earn his spot, not given to him on a silver platter.

As for potential, Grigerenko's potential > Gagner's potential no doubt

No kidding. Renney is really in love with Potter. It's sickening.

I mean... that's not to say that I would prefer to see Barker in the line-up but if Potter has to play then he should be in 15 minutes a night territory.

Whitney's already playing like about a 2nd pairing guy again. Right now we have 4 guys that are #3/4s. If we can bring in Schultz and a guy like Murray or Dumba as the bottom pairing, we should be able to get by with a Vancouver type defense imo

Sadly, I think I'd rather see Fedun in there next game - least you know the kid has some heart - some of those checks by Potter were ... uninspired to say the least
5 games left for Snowpants to get four points to beat his rookie totals.

Looks like it is going to be another swing and a miss.

Oh well. There's always next year.
Funny because Edmonton isn't going to fall below 3rd.

So were my eyes deceiving me, or was Hordichuk riding shotgun on the 93-14 line for a few shifts there in the 2nd period?

And howabout Harski introducing Goligoski to the glass.

Petry was bad but on that first goal I would have liked Potter or Jones to show some urgency and pressure Ryder there... they just let him go.

Coaching decisions on the PP still baffle me.

Jeff Petry still has maturing to do. He's young but he's made huge strides lately and I fully expect to see him back next year and emerging as a #1 or #2 defenseman.

The love for Potter is annoying as is but why oh why would he break up the Smid-Petry pairing? I'm surprised that i'm the first one to mention this, it's beyond ridiculous.
It makes no sense, it actually makes me a bit angry that Renney could be this clueless.

My hope is to have:

Smid-Petry
Whitney-Murray
Sutton-Schultz

Potter could be the seventh.
