Straight forward question, not saying it's likely, nor do I think it's necessarily a good idea... but What would the Wild have to give up to acquire his rights?
I'm thinking the package starts with the Wild's first round pick, likely the 2012-13 pick, and Jonas Brodin.
He's an RFA one year away from UFA about to make more money than any other NHL defenseman. What we would have to give up to negotiate with him would be far too much and too risky to be worth it. Don't wanna gut what Fletcher has stocked up over the past few years.
Weber is an impending RFA who isn't going anywhere unless Nashville knows they can't extend him. Even then, he's unlikely to be moved. Asking this question is similar to asking "what would it take to get Kane?" or "what would it take to get Phaneuf?" The short answer is "no."
Well if we somehow land Suter, maybe we can wait a year and if he becomes a UFA, we can consider taking a swing at him with the "getting the band back together" angle.
I think spelling his name right would be a good start.
'Shea Weber, where will you sign when you are UFA?'
'I don't know but Minnesota is out of the question because one of their fans misspelled my name online.'

Makes sense.
Ha! Now if that doesn't get our fans at the X to throw out hardcore boobirds, I don't know what will.

I would have to go into hiding if my misspelling cause that. I'll go sacrifice a couple dozen chicken (wings) tonight just to be safe.
The best solution is to produce our own Kane, or Weber, someone other teams will want, but can not have. At least until they pull a Gabby, and just refuse to play because they have some mysterious ailment. =(
