Hawks fan coming in peace here, let me just say you Habs fans have my sympathies and although I don't follow Les Habitants all that much, but I still agree it was time for Gauthier to go awhile ago. Any word on the next GM?

I doubt he hires anyone till after the playoffs. He'll have a greater pool of candidates to choose from then.

Like all good teams, the Bruins are actually built on skill. Grit and toughness have value, but while it's getting all the attention, just like when Anaheim won the Cup, it is not what made those teams successful.

And to get this back on topic, if the next GM doesn't understand that skill wins Cups, we're in for a rough ride.

In this day and age, with the salary cap and all the GM needs to be a lawyer/agent/businessperson with a good hockey mind and some hard-earned experience in some other managerial capacity. Being a good hockey player just doesn't cut it anymore. There's no proof that being good at hockey will translate into being a good GM.

At least if Damphousse had some experience at putting together a hockey à la Yzerman but he has zero experience. Gagnon seems to have his own agenda sometimes. He favours candidates that are his own personal friends just like he did with Jacques Martin. It reeks of bias and unprofessionalism.
Damphousse knows the CBA and the NHLPA inside out. He talks to GMs and he is a smart dude. He can't be that bad.

But I want McGuire. If we are going to be a joke, might as well go all the way. Creepy GM ftw.

So if no GM is named, is Bob Gainey the acting GM?

I hope the new guy is good. I'd rather see the Habs be a worthy foe than have them dragging in the gutter like they are now. That's just sad to watch.

I like the rivalry. Of course, I want the Bruins to win, but I don't want it to be an execution. Right now the Habs can't give me a fair fight to watch. I hope that changes soon.

Does it matter?

What can a GM do at this point in the season?

It would be Carrière? He's the assistant-GM. LOL

Does Andre Savard still works for the Penguins? Maybe he learned a thing or two from Shero that would warrant bringing him back?

The weird thing is that despite the horrible season, there are more optimists than pessimists around here. The top6 is evidently inedequate and the centre line needs a boost, but the our younger players are our best players, so there is hope.

I still think that 2014-2015 is when we will bounce back. Take a look at capgeek.com...

Kinda like that last game where the habs had their way physically with the bruins and it needed to go to shootout. Be gone, troll.

Awesome news, FINALLY! Good riddance! Now let's just hope Molson doesn't make a mistake in hiring the next GM. One thing for sure, we were going nowhere with Gauthier who was a bad, classless GM. And in case you ask why he was classless: Firing Martin on game day, trading Cammy mid-game, throwing Cunney under the bus, etc...

Too bad he was fired one year too late, the road to respectability will be longer now but hey, at least he's gone now. WOOHOO!

You do have a good young core, and you have Price. With a little more durability among your top end D, you could be back before that.

What you need is a big #1 defenseman. Markov is not healthy enough. Yemelin is nice, but he's pretty much Adam McQuaid. You need a definite top pairing player. If you can do that, you could be a bottom playoff seed next year.

It could/likely will be a temporary role to help find the next GM.
