I'm not sure he'd be great and as I've said I don't see it happening, unless they offer him the team president gig and give the GM position to his son. Another factor aginst Dreger's claim is PL's health.

Don't know what the problem is to let Savard be an advisor....let just say that he's the last guy that you can really attached success to his tenure. Not as GM though, that wouldn't be good.

Now, André Savard would be a good fit as well. Time for him to have a real chance. He started the rebuild. Let him finish it. With the news that Gainey is gone, I have less problems with a Brisebois hiring.

Maybe your new guy will want to prove himself and trade Price for Kessel. But in all reality, I'm happy for you guys getting him out

Gainey gone was obvious.

Lol, Savard officially back to help Molson hire a GM.

Bob Gainey quitte aussi le navire. Il était le conseiller spécial au directeur-général. #RDSGauthier

I really like the fact Savard is back in the entourage.

That's a good sign.

Hopefully Savard isn't very close to the RDS crew. We don't need their ideas to rub off on him.

I hope so too as well. Though we don't know what he wants to do. What if he feels he should be the next GM? If they don't choose him, him leaving does not necessarily mean he was let go. Yet, that's a reason I would appoint him to the GM position as well. He is a candidate.

I've heard a rumor that Habs want to bring back Rejean Houle and Mario Tremblay

What Molson is saying right now is encouraging, that making the playoffs isn't enough by any stretch of the imagination. Saying it and taking the step towards achieving this is two things though.

Savard was always a leader , not a follower.

His team probably does and many other fan sources. He even just said "many fans have asked me whats the plan".
Pretty obvious he is well connected with the fans and he is doing certain moves for the fans, this season especially. He's actually talking about fan letters and ****. lol

Both clubs were skilled. But both clubs were packed with grit and toughness. And in both cases they beat clubs that had more skill on them.

Moreover, grit and toughness is a skill. Don't you understand this? The Bruins are the toughest team in the leauge and used it to take down a more skilled team in the finals. You and I can sit here and debate how the league dropped the ball there (and I think they did) but the bottom line is that when you play the game in a wolf pack mentality with huge tough players it can be a huge strength. There's more than one way to win a cup.

Everyone knows you need skill. Nobody ANYWHERE on this forum has said that you can do it without skill. But you need a blend of skill, grit, size... it's a whole number of things. The smallest team never wins a cup. You can be on the small side but if you're the smallest, good luck. If you're the biggest though, you've got an advantage. This is just plain simple logic.

Again, you keep trying to pit skill against size. It's not one or the other... it's both. And you're not going to get this from a spreadsheet.

Have no interest in Brisebois. He was here under Gainey. Right now, I don't want anybody that was ever linked to these guys back. Timmins is the obvious exception, no doubting his great drafting picks, but I wouldn't want him as GM either.

Andre Savard can be an interesting option however.
