Too bad they fired him now. I would had like to see him in the post season (post-mortem) press conference trying to explain us his decisions and the awful results this year. The guy will just drive down to Vermont and hide in the woods with his family.
Reminds me of something I posted over the weekend:
No chance in Hell I'm letting PG anywhere near the Habs' lottery pick - even on a photoshopped pic.
Next time Gauthier puts his hands on a lottery cage will be in his local town in Vermont.
I just hope, unless we get a very good experimented man, that he will leave TT alone for the draft. If the new GM messes up the draft because he wants more truculence over talent I will be ****ing pissed.
I didn't expect to see this thread here this morning.. I expected it the day after the season ended..
Since PG pretty much knew he was a goner maybe he left with 5 games to go hoping the change would inspire the Habs to win their last 5 games and screwing up their top pick.. Just a way to say screw you to everyone..
Anyway good news.. Hope Gainey follows him out the door too.
How is this THAT bad...Damphousse knows a lot about the salary cap and stuff. Savard doesnt but he can teach Vincent how to build a team etc.
I know a lot about the salary cap and stuff too. We need to put an end to this no experience BS. Put someone who knows how to run the show in this position! This is Montreal, not Columbus. If you have no experience, there's no way you're going to be able to handle this market.
Very happy about this. He did two things this year that were absolutely unforgivable and a direct cause of our problems this year and handicapping for the future.
1) Not knowing his team - the Habs have lived the last 4 + years off of the PP which had been ranked top 5. They had struggled to score 5 on 5 and basically got bailed out by an exceptional PP. PG needed to know his team and needed to know that we had to make sure our PP was taken care of. PG re-signed Markov and let Wiz go. Not in-of-itself a bad move, but not having a backup in case Markov was not ready buried us leading him to panic and
2) trade for Kaberle - Last year he picked up Wiz and that really helped. The few games we were w/o Markov and prior to Wiz we were a terrible PP and lost many games. So PG tried to do the same thing and picked up TK. TK has certain skills on the PP but not what we needed. Part of PK's bad year offensively is part of this as well. PG not only didn't fix the problem by bringing in TK, he brought in a terrible contract, a lesson he should have learned with his involvement with the team and Gomez.
He needed to go and I am only frustrated that Molson did not make this move 2 weeks before the deadline.
