Howson has put a price on Nash that will make even Sather and Lou cringe. Nash better get use to the idea of no Stanley Cup and not going anywhere until his contract is up.

this is freaking insane

i would think REAL hard about even trading this year's 1st for nash alone

people have these fantasies about nash and his leadership, tough play etc. why hasn't he been able to turn that jackets group around?

people are insane if they think the jakets will get that. HE WANTS OUT.. they have to deal him pretty much or this will get really ugly
their negotiating power is so low

ahahhahahhahahahha no. in an alternate universe in which Nash makes $6 million a year, sure. in reality, i'd be countering with something like Schenn, Kadri, and a 2nd.

he's just not a natural fit on this team, we need a center. If I'm calling columbus it's to find a way to swap 1sts with them.

this deal would MAYBE make sense if nash made under 6 mil, played center (A KEY ONE) and was under 24 year's old

we are all assuming that!

he is basically abandoning the jackets sinking ship. when he comes into the locker room it's not like he'll have a leg to stand on with his clutch playoff play and big playoff wins

if anything i took nash for a passive player. sure he's great but so is kessel

This^

Nash and his $7.8M can stay in Columbus.

I suppose it's worth pointing out that when Columbus made that demand, the pick was probably 20th - in what's considered a weak draft.

Now that it is a lottery pick it feels very different.

This would've been around the trade deadline, so likely closer to 10th than 20th.

Either way these demands are the reason Nash is still in CLB instead of NYR, TOR, Etc..

Why do we even want a 60 point player who is paid 7.8M?

At the deadline, our 2012 1st rounder would have been 15th overall. It's now likely to be 5th overall. I would safely say its off the table (unless its a straight up deal or something).

Gardiner stays here ... not only is he potentially our best dman, but he is a huge factor in landing another top potential dman for free ...

true, but i think all concerned were thinking our position would improve with Nash in the lineup.

I am wiping my forehead in relief that we didn't do that...I'm on the lottery bandwagon now.

No thanks to Nash. Overpaid at $7.8million. No WAY should the Leafs give up Kadri, Gardiner, and Grigorenko/Dumba/Galchenyuk. Develop your kids!

Is Nash a #1 center or a #1 goaltender? No? Okay, no point paying a big price for him.

has berger bites considered nash's asking price at the deadline was way too high ?
columbus will likely have to accept less at the entry draft.

and a leafs 1st rounder at the trade deadline looked more like 10th to 15th overall
now it looks like 3rd to 6th overall

Title very misleading, given Berger is purely speculating.

Signing Schultz would make Gardiner expendable? There is only one reason we would succeed in luring Schultz to Toronto. Schultz and Gardiner are friends.

If we sign Schultz and Gardiner gets traded afterwards, that would be pretty much the worst thing a team could do.
