Columbus would most likely scoff at that, but I really don't care for Nash much at all.

Maybe Kadri + Schenn + Frattin?

i'd do it in a heartbeat for a proven 40G guy that has size(which we lack), skill(also lack) and championship pedigree(gold medal, JR career)

Now, I hope this shows how high the asking prices were at the trade deadline, and everyone complaining that Burke did not make a big trade or a trade for a proven player will shut up.

Do people actually look at Nash's stats? He is the most overrated player in the NHL.

Let's say Columbus still won't make a trade unless it includes Gardiner, and we can massage the deal into:

Gardiner, Frattin or Colbourne, 2013 1st round pick.

I know people freak out at the thought of Gardiner being moved, but I really don't see him being a #1 defenceman. Obviously I could be wrong and all that but I've seen plenty of defensemen and rookies in general look great at first but then level off in their play.

I just have this feeling that next year we'll be saying "why the hell didn't we trade Gardiner for Nash?".
then every team should trade their good rookies then? Even if he doesn't develop into a #1 defencemen, whats wrong with a #2 guy?

The position of our 1st has dramatically changed since the TD. ONE of our 1st or Gardiner might be acceptable. But not both. And I'd want their 2nd back as well.

Gardiner/Leafs 1st
Kadri
Connolly (cap considerations)

Nash
CBJ 2nd (30th overall assuming NJ forfeits this years pick and CBJ picks 1st)

Nash biggest problem is term 6 years at 7.8m is ROUGH if he drops off.

Its Berger speculation of what it would take. Take it with a salt mines worth of salt. Theirs actually no indication this was ever discussed.

I think he's just spewing what was rumoured at the trade deadline. He's got nothing else to talk about since everyone already knows this season is over.

I'd much rather give up the following 2 firsts, Colborne and Schenn. A potential top 5 pick, our top prospect who finally looks ready and one of our top young guys for toverpaid) Rick Nash

Nice post. Who is then? Do you know what the word overrated means? It means people think you are better than you really are. That is exactly what Nash is.

Nash is in some fine company this year. Definitely a superstar that all teams should give up their future for. I guess we should be able to get Edmonton's pick for Grabo.

That price would be ridiculous for us. That would gut us of arguably our only three borderline elite prospects.

I think that Howson wasn't under the gun to trade Nash so he asked for the moon and the stars in hope of catching another GM willing to do something stupid. Now he does have to make a move before next season but I wouldn't be surprised if the situation gets dragged out for as long as he can.

He has scored 40 twice (41 and 40) in 9 years. I just don't think Nash is the right guy for our team with what we would have to give up for him.

I used to like Nash. But with his cap hit and less then over the moon stats. I think the bjs are in for a rude awakening for a return

Me too. They shot themselves in the foot with this whole situation.

Except if we are the team that makes the trade, then I'll think we gave up too much im sure.

Yeah, Howson showed his cards at the end of trade deadline press conference when he said Nash asked to be traded.

Nash has a NTC so he can dictate where he goes limiting his options. The alternative is that Columbus keeps a guy that really doesn't want to be there and pay him almost 8 mil a year.

Truly believe that A N Y GM would start chuckling at this. And if Howson couldn't get anything like this return at the deadline what makes him think he's going to get it now? 3 first round picks, two of which are / going to be top-tens (in all likelihood)for a very overrated player that doesn't fill an organizational need - no way this happens

Guys like McDonough, Delzotto count as potential #2-3 defencemen, would you stomach trading those kind of players along with other additional assets for Nash?

That price has to have changed based on where our pick will end up..

Imagine Burke had ended up trading for Nash and we continued to slide, giving away another lottery pick.. Oh man lol.

Nonis just said on the radio yesterday that the Leafs will NOT be offering a bunch of young assets for an older player.

Rick Nash and his nearly 8 million dollar cap hit can stay in Columbus.
