To do this right and strategically... we'd all have to concentrate on one guy and not split the vote to get as strong a result as possible. If we all vote Eberle unamimously (since he's had an excellent year) that makes his chances the strongest.
Then we'd need to concentrate our other votes on inferior choices from other teams... hoping to advance them over the better players they are pitted against. Basically sabotage the best other players and make sure they aren't around in the next round... so it's an easier battle to get Eberle through every round of voting. (From the rules it looks like there are 3 rounds of voting).
So basically vote hard for Hedman over Stamkos to try and eliminate him. Bozak over Kessel... Hartnell over Giroux... Howard over Datsyuk...Marc-Andre Fleury over Malkin...Grabner over Tavares... etc.
If enough people can "sabotage" the vote we can get rid of some of the toughest competition from reaching the next rounds.
"Voting is unlimited; for every vote you cast, you will earn one entry into the Cover Vote Sweepstakes for a chance to win a VIP trip to the 2012 NHL Awards™ (up to 10 entries per day)"
You can vote literally hundreds of times a day (if you have that type of patience) ... just that you only get 10 sweepstakes entries per day... so it's going to come down to which fanbase has the most dedicated sabotage plan and wants to click the most.

I don't think it matters who we vote for right now. Just vote for whoever moves on between the 2. I do agree with the rest though. It's quite the evil idea

Someone will make a script that votes thousands of times a day and will basically ruin any chance this had at being legitimate. Reminds me of something other hockey related vote, can't quite put my finger on it though.

Now if only we could do that and make Hordichuk or Eager the cover athlete for NHL 13
I know you have to sign up (don't most of us already have nhl.com accounts, anyways?) but it would be insane to get an Oil on the cover.
Let's band together and salvage something out of this abysmal year!
I respect your idea, but Hall wouldn't be deserving.
It would be cool to see Eberle on the cover, but I don't think showcasing someone from a crappy team is how they'd want to promote the game.

Start the add-on, press record, go through the whole action of voting, press stop. Save the macro and then tell it to run. Walk away from your computer. I'm sure there are similar things for Chrome, Opera and *shudder* IE.
EA is all about the money. Fan voting is pretty bad for the covers. The Madden covers have become pretty stupid lately. Hopefully the hockey community votes more intelligently.

NHL is one of the worst selling sports games in the world. It ONLY sells in canada, and hardly breaks 250,000 sales annually.
If they didn't piggy bank SO much tech from the other games, or re-use SO many of the same assets, it almost wouldn't be profitable.
What I'm saying is this is VERY winnable for any canadian fanbase to 'stuff the ballot' because nobody really cares.
And to be perfectly honest, I haven't bought it since 07', and I don't really care.
