So I just reviewed the other threads against the Sharks this year:

AP is 2-0-1 when starting a Sharks/Coyotes thread
Smith is 3-1-1 against the Sharks
Niemi is 1-2-0 against the Coyotes
Greiss is 1-1-0 against the Coyotes

So AP started today's thread and with Smith starting, I like our odds. I would expect Greiss to get the start?

4-2 Coyotes

Sharks are also 6-5-2 on back-to-back nights; most of the losses have come in the last few weeks.

Out with a case of nervousness. No the first three you mentioned were day to day.

Walsh just said that Pyatt is the only one that wont be available tonight so all hands on deck, even if you cant move one of them.

Vrbata is unfortunately not a huge loss these days.

I disagree with this. Even when he's not scoring, he eats a ton of minutes (third behind Doan and Whitney) as one of the better defensive wings on this team. Hanzal's a shutdown center without him but they make a shutdown line when he's around.

We are well rested, the Sharks are not. Doan is going to be fired up, I fear for the Sharks players, they better keep their heads up. Must win game, as in have to have it. Do it Yotes. Win.

Doan is my biggest question mark in this one. Last time he was suspended he came back and his play looked extremely passive, most of his physicality was just gone. Hopefully he doesn't let this one get in his head.

There are enough defensive oriented forwards on this team to get by without him on that side of the puck. Unlike say Klesla on the D crew.

The Coyotes cannot afford to have Vrbata not scoring.

The coyotes do depend on vrbatas scoring but he brings a lot more than just that. When hes with hanzal they are a shutdown line. He also draws attention from the opposing teams and that opens up things a little more for other lines

Also including the first game of the year, the Coyotes are 2-3-1 when they have 3 or more days off between games.

Its ok though because Smith will start (and be rested) and AP started this thread so I am sticking by a 4-2 win. ESPN has us winning 54% of the time in this game's simulations.

One of the best ways to serve Shark that has been choked.

I also heard a plane with an ad for tonight's Coyotes game was flying over Salt River Fields...anyone think that will actually get last minute ticket sales?

Call me crazy, but I say switch Torres for Korpi. That 2nd line would be physical. Torres has impressed me as of late. Reading the Sharks board they are not too fond of him, he seems to play well against the Sharks they are saying. Korpi and Brule can match speed (sort of), but at the same time have to wait for Langkow to get in the play!

I saw the Coyotes plane ad fly over the Peoria Stadium today at the Padres/Cubs game.

Doan should play out the remainder of his career with Torres in a non top 6 role. They go well together. It would be nice to get a heavy guy like Stoll or Gaustad in the offseason to center them.
