You must be mistaken, because the scoreboard was replaced in the 91 renovation, and was the same until October of 2000 when HDTV screens were added to the existing scoreboard.
It has been the same since then, and the ENTIRE thing will be completely replaced next year with a true state of the art scoreboard.
it hasn't been the same since then.. it was completely replaced a few seasons ago.

Technically, 3 different scoreboards have hung inside MSG, my friend:
Original 1991 renovation scoreboard...
HDTV screens installed to the existing one + new color matrix info boards in 2000...
Daktronics scoreboard installed in '06 or '07...
That 360 panorama is great! Love the new-look Garden...hopefully I will still feel that way come next fall with the bridges installed.

It looks really nice. However, I really hate the fact that the first rows of seats don't go all the way down to the glass in the corners. I don't understand if their going to spend all that $$$ on a massive renovation, they leave the stands looking like that. It looks like a mess on TV, it looks unfinished and it makes for the worst sightlines in the near corners.
That has always bothered me at the Garden that you can't see the action in the near corners. you have to be behind one of the nets in order to see the entire ice.
I also watched a video on youtube where someone videotaped during play from some pretty darn expensive seats in the lower bowl, and the sightlines down there were not great to say the least, much do to the elevated corners.
The geometry of the building and size of the ice rink doesn't allow for that. They could renovate all day and night, but unless they tear out the entire base structure and expand the building walls outward, the seats will never reach the glass in the corners. The reason for this is because MSG is actually a perfect circle, whereas other arenas are either square or oval in shape.

That's a pretty sweet view. Do you know row that is taken from?
what i got from facebook is that it was taken from the top of the section by the new concessions area. whoever posted it should have an additional 20 pictures or so some time tonight also.

Great find... I was looking for information on Garden Vision last night and couldn't find squat! Knew I wasn't losing my mind regarding the upgrade in 2007.... Thanks for confirming.
Funny how Barclays Center copied MSG with the dimming the lights in the crowd and having the lights bright for the court/ice.
Some annoying Net fan was all giddy about that. Didn't even bother to mention the idea came from MSG....
It's actually different from MSG. And it looks absolutely stunning. They are ONLY doing it for Nets games. Not hockey, college basketball, or any other event. I was there on Monday, and it is VERY dark.
And, heres a video that BDRangers16 took if any of you are interested.

It looks more like how they do it at Staples Center with the Lakers than what they do at MSG with the Rangers and Knicks.
Tex's Rangers after George Lewis "Tex" Rickard, president of Madison Square Garden when they founded the team.
bingo, I think it's funny that there's two pro teams in the US known as "Tex[a]s Rangers", especially considering there's no cattle ranches anywhere near midtown
