Especially those that want Lombardi to have problems with Quick's agent next summer. And I'm not even joking. If I were a GM on the West and I thought Quick and Lundqvist deserve it equally, I am voting for Quick. He will be UFA and he will play for a contender spending to the cap. Does that make me a bad GM?

If Quick keeps these last few games to 1 or 2 goals He wins it.

Hank has a brutal last few games here coming up.

I don't think the award will have much impact on his contract at this point. Quick has been so good and so important to this team that he's already going to ask for a pile of money. The only two more highly sought after UFA's next summer would be Crosby and Perry, so he's due to get a lot of scratch.

People forget it's also Quick's third contract. Quick has improved his game every year.

Quick is going to ask for a lot of money, and he deserves to be paid.

I disagree, because it's not him negotiating the contract. Agents are agents and they can be especially persuasive when they represent an UFA. If an agent is not able to get couple of bucks extra for Vezina trophy, he is a lousy agent. And if there is anything these agents aren't, it's being lousy. Not in that sense at least, they are cancer.

Hanks last four games, BOS, PHI, PIT, WAS.......

Id say Quick can catch him in Sv% and GAA's.

I don't see Hank shutting out any of those teams. I see him giving up three in every one of those games.

Quick's SV% actually dropped yesterday. Yes, our defensive system is THAT good.

I don't see Hank losing many games after allowing one or fewer goals.

I think it might be a close vote, with Lundqvist's body of work being the tiebreaker. He really has had a fantastic season as well so I won't be starting any riots if he wins.

To me, though, Quick is the very definition of what a Hart winner should be. The Kings are possibly picking top 5 without him this year.

If Quick wants to play for a contender that is spending to the cap, that IS the LA Kings.

Giving up two shots a period will do that to a goalie's save %.

i hope quick wins it.... without him, we'd be battling for a lottery spot, rather than a playoff spot.

but my gut tells me the east coast bias will out and lundqvist will win

I have no problem paying Quick exactly what he's asking for.

I really don't think Lombardi will have a problem signing Quick. I see Quick as a team first kind of player over a me first type player. I see too much loyalty in the Kings in Quick. You hear and read it in his interviews. Quick is not a me first type of player.

The NHL GM's vote the award, I can't fathom a single West coast GM voting for Hank.....

Again, it's not up to Quick at all. We saw how it went with Doughty, who was supposed to have Kings tattoo just about everywhere. I was naive about how these negotiations were going. I thought it was the good ol' GM inviting player to a cup of tea, chatting a bit about the family and stuff... well, IRL it's just Solomon and agent exchanging a paper with number of years and cap hit written on it.

Seems to me that agents have much more to say about it than what we thought. Of course, someone might say why doesn't the player tell his agent to take it easy. But you know what the agent can reply? Is that really why you are paying me all this money - to do nothing?! And it does make sense. If the player wants to take it easy, why having the agent at all? Just do what JJ did.

That agent is going to squeeze every cent out of Lombardi and I think that Vezina trophy would add 250-300k to the cap hit.

I didn't know this until I heard it on the radio the other day, but the GMs vote on the Vezina. I think that means Quick has a pretty good shot. Rinne might get some WC GM's votes though.

Originally, I thought the award was voted on by the media which is why I thought Lundqvist will be a shoe in.

Quick ...... 1.89 GAA / .931 SV% / 10 S.O.
Lundqvist. 1.92 GAA / .932 SV% / 8 S.O.

Enough of the east coast bias theory. The Vezina is voted on by GM's, not the media.

Quick deserves serious consideration for the Vezina and Hart. I don't care what that does to his contract negotiations. I'm having issues posting the video so to quote John Malkovich, "Pay that man his money."

If Holmgren, Chiarelli, Lou, Shero have a chance to stick it to Hank and get in his head, they will. The vote could go either way, I don't think they're as straight forward as picking the best goaltender. There are reasons why people vote the way they do.
