Savard just contradicted Molson again on the language issue for the GM position. This is already a gong-show! Did Savard not even watch Molson's press conference today? It sounds like Savard doesn't even know anything about the process.

Explain how he contradicted him please, I didn't listen to team 990.

He's there to bring common sense to the table. Something that has been sorely lacking with the habs management the past 6-7 years.
Don't like at all how 990 is pumping McGuire's tires, it pollutes the process. I think the lot of them should put their money where their mouth is. If McGuire gets hired, and fails, then they should guarantee they'd resign from their on air positions.

He has twice today said that the GM should speak French. Molson said all things equal, he should speak french but language shouldn't prevent Habs from hiring best person.
Molson and Savard aren't even in sync and it appears haven't even talked much about core aspects of process. Unbelievable!
Like at the end of his GM tenure, Savard has too many other things on his plate. This is a circus already.

Get ready to listen to it until a new GM is hired .. they are all good friends of Mcguire
Only thing I will point out is Mcguire completely avoided lobbying for the job, he stuck to answering the questions as an analyst.

let be honest here, we just had Pierre freakin Gauthier...nobody can do WORSE..
Savard not interested in GM job, says he is 66 years old now ..
In his place I wouldn't want it either. Retirement is way better than the constant pressure and media frenzy. Odds are in Julien Brisebois' favor right now and Roy as coach would follow soon after. But let's wait and see.
In other news, Canada has killed the penny, about time too.
People who think this is the first step to greatness should check their exuberance at the door. Even Moses never reached the Promised Land.
Seriously, just because someone new will be named doesn't mean anything. Names have been bandied about but none of the wild optimists on this board has any idea how well they would function. It would do well to remember the excitement when Gainey, a HOF Hab great with executive experience, was hired. Even if the replacements are decent it doesn't mean that the Habs will show progress for quite some time. There a lots of teams with young, budding superstar talents who lack experience and will probably win championships before the Habs.
I have serious reservations about some of the names proposed here. I distrust Patrick Roy in particular and don't think much of Vincent Damphouse or Pierre McGuire. I'm skeptical about Serge A. Savard because after a few good years of his tenure as GM the drafting became miserable--all those WHL duds in the first round. He tried to trade Roy even before Houle actually did so. I doubt whether he's still knowledgeable about the 700 or so NHL players, perhaps not even those on le Canadien.
I'd wait a year or two before allowing myself to become giddy with expectations. Secreting catecholamines unnecessarily would speed up my heart rate without any payoff.

I'm not saying he would be good or bad, I honestly don't know, but having them lobby on his behalf, IMO, is disrespectful to the process because other candidates don't have a radio station whispering into the ear of Serge Savard like we just heard.

say hello to higher prices....
go to the gas pump to get 20.17 cents of gas....now 20.20

If Savard doesn't know what Molson wants, maybe it's because Molson only brought Savard in to talk to the media and calm the population, as Savard is quite popular. I hope he doesn't intend to use Savard's advice as he seems quite old and overrated.

How does contradicting core criteria for the job calm the population/media?
With Savard as an advisor, you have to think that Damphousse and Roy could be the next DG/coach duo.
I would certaintly love that.
I understand wanting Roy, he's a successful coach and GM in junior. But what has Damphousse done to be qualified...besides he has legal issues right now.
I just wanted to commend you on your ability to somehow instill negativity throughout a thread about the most positive thing that has happened to the Habs all year.
