Thank you for sharing that, that's very sad news.

Hope he gets back to 100% ASAP.

mixed bag on DL:

Carter, Richards and Fraser are good signings,

Moreau, Hunter, Gagne(although jury is out cuz he's been injured) not so much,

some good draft picks(see Simmonds), some bad ones (see Hickey)

I think this post season and especially next year is critical for DL's future with the Kings...

Carter, Richards and Frasier were TRADES.

How did you think Simmonds got to Philly, Vacation.

Be part of the solution, not the example.

to me, trades are signings:

cuz you trade to get them.

i know that technically only free agt signings are "signings" but

if we're going to evaluate DL's performance, you also have to look at trades,

and I like the Carter and Richards trades,

so it is a mixed bag re: DL's performance in terms of FA signings, trades and draft picks,

but I give him the benefit of the doubt as the jury is out,

and he ain't going anywhere this season, maybe next if the team tanks bigtime...

Well Kypreos' tweet isn't exactly a risky call. We all knew Carter would be out for a few games, and Kypreos is just confirming Carter is out this week. Hopefully it is all precautionary and Carter will be ok for playoffs, assuming this week goes According to plan.

That tweet was from about 3 days ago. Kypreos doesn't know what's going on at all. How would he know before an MRI has even been done??

Kypreos is one of the most connected NHL guys on the planet. He regularly breaks news before anyone else. That said, it appears based on what Darryl and Dean are saying that it isn't that serious. The injury is probably something that would normally sideline a player for some time but given the Kings are in a post-season dogfight I'd imagine he will play through it of he at all can.

Of course, Carter isn't playing yet so for now, Kypreos is right, and he did say "regular" season - which is only another 6 days.

Coming from someone who watched the first 6 NHL seasons, get used to this around playoff time. Not saying he is soft or anything, but this happens A LOT.

get used to hearing how we are tired of hearing this, not a single carter thread has ever been made where we aren't "reminded" how he is a "ghost" come playoffs. so i fully expect him to have a monster one just to shut you all up

I don't care what Kypreos said, there is no possible way on earth that he could know how long Carter was going to be out before 1) he even saw a doctor on Sunday in LA 2) an actual MRI was done today. He was basically just making a statement that it will be tougher for us to make the playoffs if Carter was out for the season. He didn't actually know anything.

Not unless he is also the doctor.

Thing is if he's getting the MRI today it could be a couple of different things. It could be a case of just being unable to get him in for the MRI until today. It could also be a matter of this MRI just being a precaution to ensure there's no hidden damage to the ankle that they aren't seeing on the exams and he's ready to go. Other side of that coin is there was so much swelling they couldn't do the MRI until today and the injury is worse than every one is leading on...Could be any of those things but with Kypreos being as vague as he is it comes down to he's just speculating and knows nothing for certain.

Rich Hammond via Twitter:

Jeff Carter does not have an ankle fracture. No structural damage, per Dean Lombardi. Deep bruise and Carter is considered day to day.

edit: Lisa Dillman via Twitter:

Re Jeff Carter, could have been much worse. Now will be all about tolerance of the discomfort. DL: "This is a painful thing."

Lombardi said the injured area is the area where the foot and the ankle meet.

Via Rich Hammond: Jeff Carter does not have any structural problems with his ankle, Dean Lombardi said, and Carterís status is considered day-to-day. Carter does, however, have a painful injury and itís not known exactly when he might be able to play again. This will, perhaps, come as a shock to people who post things on the Internet before Carter had even seen a doctor. Hereís what Lombardi saidÖ

Kyper never said he had a fracture, that was dancing boy. All kyper tweeted was he's expected to miss the rest of the reg season.
