I disagree, I think JFJ would be a perfect fit for a franchise like the Habs.

I also think Roy has been a better GM than coach, but in the Q, resources count for a lot and the Remparts are easily the organization with the most resources. I guess my point is that Roy shouldn't take full credit for Grigorenko, Duclair, etc. Had Roy been coach/GM in Baie-Comeau I doubt he would have been able to convince those guys to go there. (of course Roy himself is an owner so the more appropriate phrase might be "he shouldn't take full credit as GM".)

Maybe it should go in the Hockey Management forum ... which doesn't exist.

That'd drive traffic. Good idea. Burke alone would rival the Phoenix Megathread for eyeballs & posts. Multiplied by 30, up with the ad rates for banner bars & drop ins. Hell, you could charge subscription rates.... who's runnin this Gin Joint anyway?. "Mabel, get me Directory Information!".

If Martin comes in, I predict a mass extinction of the human race.

Also about power agent Pat Brisson, he said he would consider it but is not interested in going through an interview process.

Isn't that basically just a clever way of saying that he isn't really interested?
It's not as if Molson is just going to call him up and say "I have no idea of what your ideas on hockey are like, what type of management style you favour or what visions you have for the future of the Montreal Canadiens, but I want to give you the position as General Manager for the most storied franchise in hockey."

An organisation like the Canadiens shouldn't hire someone to man their coffee-machines without an interview process, let alone someone as important as the General freakin' Manager.

I think it's more of an announcement that he'd consider a GM opportunity, just not the Montreal GM opening right here, right now.

You are probably right, he may not be interested. Also Molson shouldn't crawl on their knees to get their new guy. And I include Roy in this.

USA Today's Allen: Roy would be ideal candidate; but would he take the job?

Edit: but Pierre MacGuire may emerge as the leading candidate

If Montreal asks for permission to speak to Brisebois Yzerman will most likely tell them to come back after the AHL playoffs(or when Norfolk is eliminated).

Same for Roy for a coaching job. He might be on is way to win another Memorial Cup.

That's no surprise, the whole rumor was started by fans and medias looking for some evening news. There was no reason that an agent like him ,with everything he was implicated in, would want a GM job as he had never worked on the other side of the table in any franchise.
