If you love Simmonds more than this team, perhaps this team isn't the one for you. This topic's about whether or not King and Nolan fill the void left by Simmonds. See those three names? Those are the three to discuss here. I left some other posts that were somewhat related to #10, but this isn't a #10 thread. There are Richards threads around here for people to post in, find one and go to town if that's what you want to do.

Thread (including good posts, sorry guys, PM me if you have a problem with it and we can talk about it) cleaned up.

Well like I said earlier, this was the case in LA as well. Than not much have changed.

Personally, I'd like Nolan to drop the mits a few more times and drop that visor. How many 4th liners wear a visor, especially fighters? Heck, even Talbot has no visor.

Nolan has been great at every level he has played and I am happy to finally see him up with the big club. As time goes on he will earn more and more ice time and I think will become a stalwart on our 3rd line. He is a very good fighter though not a heavyweight and has good drive and solid hands. King is playing bonus time imo and doing a great job at making the most of the opp he is being given.

Kozun will be our next kid to make a big impact for us. Kitsyn could be here soon too and could also become a great asset for us.

Simmonds was good here and Schenn was so highly thought of because he has legitimate talent so I expect him to become a great player.

As for the kids filling Simmonds role with the team, I think of it differently.

Simmonds had his place with us and since he has left we have become a much better defencive team and have added two skilled fresh young players to our line up that may not have gotten a chance if he were still here.

Onward and upwards.

Don't get this at all. Simmonds in his time here along with Handzus wwas the driving forces on the Kings shutdown line which often drew the toughest matchups in games. I mean is it just that Handzus is that good defensively or something else I'm missing? To me Simmonds defense grew leaps and bounds from were it was when he was here. By the end it didn't matter where you put Simmonds in the lineup you knew could depend on him to bring grit, effort, and responsible defensive play and the scoring was always secondary. It wasn't like Simmer didn't spend time on the top lines here and when he did he was no more productive than when he was playing third line minutes...

Handzus made Simmonds look a LOT better then he was.

If you recall we also had Clifford on that line at time, and he made Clifford look great defensively also. Simmonds also praised Handzus for pretty much showing him the ropes of a defensive game.

Without Handzus Simmonds still gets lost. Rightfully so, he is a young player, and now he doesn't have a defensive veteran in Philadelphia, nor does he have a defensive minded coach to help him along either like Murray.

Simmonds is a good player, but I think it's one of those cases like...I dunno James Neal to an extent. Neal is a talented guy, always has been, always been a great goal scorer. You put him on a line with Malkin or Crosby and all of a sudden he is an elite scorer.

Teammates make a difference, systems make a difference. No they aren't the sole reason for a players performances but they can easily make different parts of a players game shine. Simmonds looked amazing defensively here, and was average/above average offensively. He goes to Philly and looks average defensively and great offensively.

Just the nature of the game.

You have to admit, Brayden Schenn is looking like the Fortunate Son.

I look at the last 17 games or so, Philly played some really tight games(good teams).

Schenn was a no show, Simmer did ok.

Not sure if this is serious. Maybe he values his vision and doesn't want to end up like Lappy or Malhotra. As for fighting, why? Teams are fighting for their lives right now and you want him to fight for the sake of fighting?

Yeah, sometimes I wonder if Johnny Utah is some kind of hill billy or that he just chose the wrong sport to support.

I like a good fight like any other guy. They should never ban fighting in hockey, its part of the game.

But to say somebody (Nolan) needs to get rid of the visor because he is a 4th liner and should fight more (just for the sake of fighting)...than something is wrong with you. Sorry Johnny.

He doesn't need to drop the visor, he can just take off the bucket when he fights

And Simmonds just took a puck to the face for a goal and is in the Flyers' dressing room. Simmonds was bleeding from the upper part of his face. Happy, Johnny? Cause he doesn't wear a visor.

Unbelievable. I knew Wayne could score 20 goals one day and that he wasnt a career 3rd line grinder but 4 more goals and he has 30.

Puck probably doesn't go in the net if he had a visor on.

Hartnell is 4 away from 40. Didn't the flyers fans want him gone?

A number of us didn't but a lot have wanted him gone for a long time. He has helped Giroux as much as Giroux has helped him.

Simmonds is back with a visor.

Yuck! He just did an interview and had blood running down his nose. Looks like he was cut on the eyelid.

It was mainly because of his cap hit. At the time his production was very low for the money he ate up. It sounds like he is just happier now though. At least based on that interview and article on him where he talks about how his marriage was crumby and how his life was in turmoil off the ice but has since started to come back together since his divorce.

But when he scoring 14 goals at a 4.2 cap hit yeah people weren't loving it.
