Is all his worth in RIMM stock, currently valued at about $400m, or does he have other significant assets?

Rich guys like that don't keep all their eggs in one basket, do they? Else a drastic devaluation of a single stock kills 'em.

Diversify.That's investing 101, aint it?

IIRC, Based on the March 2011 Forbes Billionaires list numbers, it appeared that ~85-90% of his Net Worth was in RIMM shares.

btw; did you know that Joe Weider of bodybuilding fame & resident of Montreal has one of the most extensive collections of Napoleonic memorabilia in the world?. True. Who'da guessed some musclehead would even care?... millions tied up in pantaloons & epaulettes n' suchnots.

Hey man it is all in good fun.

But to be fair suggesting Nappy won at Waterloo is almost as bad as saying the Germans bombed Pearl Harbour...

Between the win over the Sharks last night and news about RIM, we are certainly happy in Phoenix today. He really screwed us over when he convinced Moyes to declare the Coyotes in bankruptcy. Karma is a you know what.

Exactly. So it's not worth it at all.

Huh?. Try VIP Guest Priviledges at his choice of any number of Corporate Suites... and thats the craziest part of it all. He knew better, knows better than to be pulling the trips that he did through Pittsburgh, Nashville & Phoenix.

Anythings possible. If they moved into Westgate they could employ Devry students as Interns for free, as could any number of HT companies if they had but the vision & imagination to do so.

That $800M number is from last June when RIMM was ~$25-$40/per share - now its @ ~$14.

Forbes has his current RIMM stake at $385M:

Quote:
The Dwindling Fortunes Of RIM's Former Billionaires

It’s the end of an era for Research In Motion’s former co-CEO Jim Balsillie. The embattled company announced Thursday that, in addition to disappointing fourth quarter earnings, Balsillie is leaving RIM’s board. Balsillie was –until this year — a regular member of Forbes’ Billionaires list; he appeared on it from 2007 through 2011. His net worth peaked at $3.4 billion in 2008. But as RIM’s stock price began its long decline last year, Balsillie fell off the Forbes list. In March 2011 he was worth $1.8 billion. Today, his stake in RIM is worth just $385 million.

So how is this thread hockey related? Oh yeah, so a bunch of people with a vague concept of who Jim Balsillie is can engage in pathetic axe-grinding...

Way to stay classy...

So yeah, Nashville fans view this guy as a scum bag, regardless of any philanthropy work.
This says a lot more about the character of Nashville fans than anything else...

^ this. Bit ironic too, given the claims of superiority over azcentral. Similar mean spirit, albeit better written and much more knowledgeable but way more self-inflated.

In my first few posts here i have already had someone mock my profile name under the guise of giving me a history lesson. Oh well, what did I expect.
