Globe & Mail: Wobbly RIM cleans house- Jim Balsillie resigns
Oh... apparently where I was posting on the web as well. Thought I was on Wiki editing pages of history sans Moderators or Peer Review in a flight of revisionism to suit my argument. Better get on that right away so you cant argue with me about it anymore.
btw; did you know that Joe Weider of bodybuilding fame & resident of Montreal has one of the most extensive collections of Napoleonic memorabilia in the world?. True. Who'da guessed some musclehead would even care?... millions tied up in pantaloons & epaulettes n' suchnots.

Hey man it is all in good fun.
But to be fair suggesting Nappy won at Waterloo is almost as bad as saying the Germans bombed Pearl Harbour...
This is a joyous occasion for Pens, Preds, and Phoenix fans alike. This guy really tried to screw over Pittsburgh and Mario. Deceiving his way to nearly buying the team just like he did the Preds. Have never purchased a RIM device. Not a huge loss as BB's always seem to break.
Between the win over the Sharks last night and news about RIM, we are certainly happy in Phoenix today. He really screwed us over when he convinced Moyes to declare the Coyotes in bankruptcy. Karma is a you know what.
Its not enough to buy a team & pay the indemnifications to MLSE & Buffalo, renos to Copps etc, however its more than enough to make a start, bringing in partners. I cant imagine a team in Hamilton losing money, quite the opposite. Be like a giant ATM with no limits. Still, I also cant imagine Balsillie overcoming the enmity hes won from the NHL & BOG's in having a hope in Hell of pulling it off.

Of course. Who knew when my cat typed that post that we had a Military Historian to deal with here on hf?. I told him to be careful. Shoulda proofed it I guess.

Too busy tending bar, flipping vinyl on the turntable, preparing canapes' HT.... you should try his smoked salmon on french with Capers & Monkey Dust. To DIE for. Seriously. Eat it?. Dead.
Huh?. Try VIP Guest Priviledges at his choice of any number of Corporate Suites... and thats the craziest part of it all. He knew better, knows better than to be pulling the trips that he did through Pittsburgh, Nashville & Phoenix.
Perhaps someone will purchase RIM out of bankruptcy and move them to Phoenix
Anythings possible. If they moved into Westgate they could employ Devry students as Interns for free, as could any number of HT companies if they had but the vision & imagination to do so.
And I heard somewhere it was more like 800 million.
That $800M number is from last June when RIMM was ~$25-$40/per share - now its @ ~$14.
Forbes has his current RIMM stake at $385M:
Quote:
The Dwindling Fortunes Of RIM's Former Billionaires
It’s the end of an era for Research In Motion’s former co-CEO Jim Balsillie. The embattled company announced Thursday that, in addition to disappointing fourth quarter earnings, Balsillie is leaving RIM’s board. Balsillie was –until this year — a regular member of Forbes’ Billionaires list; he appeared on it from 2007 through 2011. His net worth peaked at $3.4 billion in 2008. But as RIM’s stock price began its long decline last year, Balsillie fell off the Forbes list. In March 2011 he was worth $1.8 billion. Today, his stake in RIM is worth just $385 million.
So how is this thread hockey related? Oh yeah, so a bunch of people with a vague concept of who Jim Balsillie is can engage in pathetic axe-grinding...
Predator fans are going to have a largely different view of Jim Balsillie after the crap we went through for months in 2007. We had to listen to lie after lie from Balsillie and his attorney, Richard Rodier, as they told us they were going to do their due diligence to keep the team here (which apparently would have worked) even as they made plans to move it. When everything else came out well after the fact (like how they began trying to pit the city against the team as early as 2005, I believe) it just dug his hole deeper. So yeah, Nashville fans view this guy as a scum bag, regardless of any philanthropy work.
This says a lot more about the character of Nashville fans than anything else...

Way to stay classy...
^ this. Bit ironic too, given the claims of superiority over azcentral. Similar mean spirit, albeit better written and much more knowledgeable but way more self-inflated.
In my first few posts here i have already had someone mock my profile name under the guise of giving me a history lesson. Oh well, what did I expect.
