Did you even see the play? It was because of Crosby that Dupuis scored.

Well to be fair, Corsby makes a great defensive play. He then drives to the net getting 2 defenders following him.

Howeverthe shot is awesome.

Crosby started the play by blocking that pass (he's now been properly credited with an assist on the NHL.com boxscore, btw).

He then raced down the ice and was the first Penguin into the Leafs zone and drew both Leafs defensemen to him leaving Dupuis wide open. Yeah, Holzer made a dumb mistake on the play, but if it's not Sidney Crosby going to the net hard then he probabyl stops and covers the slot.

So to say Crosby had nothing to do with that goal is just ridiculous.

Oh great, another person who thinks hockey is only about shooting a puck into the net. That's awesome.

Mark my words, when this season is over, and people are looking back to the one play secured the Hart for Crosby, that play will be one of the moments that stand out. Makes a defensive play, joins the rush, draws the d-man, Pascal fires, the game is over. MVP type play by Crosby.

"Crosby does virtually nothing on the play..."

Instead of mocking the announcers, maybe you should learn something from them.

That's a game-changing play by Crosby, whether Sportsnet wants to slobber on him or not.
No Chance. If Dupuis "broke up a sure goal" there,....and Crosby fired that rocket into the top corner,....you're saying they would have said: "that goal was scored because of Dupuis"? Not in a billion years. Guys make great plays every night,...all throughout the league,..but if one of their heros(Crosby) does it,...it's shown constantly, and talked about over and over and over again. It's getting embarassing.

This might come as mind blowing information, but the media and league focus on star players like Crosby to market the game and get better ratings. Shocking, I know.

So,......let's say it was Dupuis that made that "great"? defensive play,....and then Crosby got the puck and rifled the shot,...top shelf,.....the commentators would have said: "that goal was scored because of Dupuis"? They would have fallen out of their chairs,...over "what a great shot by Crosby"!!!!!!!!!! ".....only the best player in the world....could have made a shot like that...". Just because the announcers are "gaga" over Crosby,....does't mean you have to buy,...everything they are trying to sell. Try a dose of reality people.

Did you even read what I wrote? Try again, chief.

Edit: It's also worth noting that Crosby's defensive play wasn't even shown or mentioned on On The Fly. Him driving to the net to create space, not mentioned at all. Wouldn't have even known he was on the ice unless you spotted him yourself. So there's that.

The reality is that Crosby made a great defensive play that sprung the breakout and then flew down the ice and dragged two defenders with him going to the net that left Dupuis wide open in the slot. I understand that Dupuis and Kunitz received little more than cursory mention for the play and they deserved more, but going the opposite direction and trying to trivialize Crosby's involvement in the play is just as asinine.

Well, this is one of the more pointless conversations I've seen on HFBoards.

OMG HFBOARDS THE MEDIA FOCUSED ON CROSBY WTF THEY NEVER DO THIS

I wouldn't have any issue with it if he hadn't actually played a big role in the play.

Amazing and impressive use of punctuation all around. Would truly be the highlight of nearly any other post if it wasn't for the equally impressive mindless ranting and nonsense.

Well done, you've done a great job of increasing all of our appreciation for the announcers.

Crosby turned the puck over from defense to offense and drew two defenders away from the play... But hey, it's not like he's the best player in hockey or anything...

Dupuis is always underrated and underapreciated.

I think he plays the game the right way, plays with the right attitude, and brings it every shift. I liked him when he was with the Wild, but for some reason I was one of only a few. I still proudly wear my Green Wild Dupuis jersey from time to time.

that and the goal against Tampa where he starts the play by picking Stamkos' pocket are perfect examples of why he's the best player in the world.

Dont worry, your fanbase isn't alone. Up until maybe even this year, 90% of the pens fans were trying to trade him every chance they got.

A good portion were pissed we gave him as much money he got.... which is basically nothing.
