I don't think it'd take too much.

Yep, a rebuilding team that's headed towards the lottery right now (and might do so again next year) should trade for a 32 year old goalie (with another 10 years left after this season) using our 2013 1st (plus more assets) in the Nathan MacKinnon draft year.

Makes perfect sense.

Lombardi is cap suicide, canucks want nowhere near that contract. I don't even know who D'amigo is lol.

Vancouver's only hope of trading Luongo at this point, would be if they approached the trade as a salary dump.

Assuming the Leafs have any interest in taking him on with that massive contract, I seriously doubt they would be willing to part with anything. More likely, is that Vancouver would have to throw in a draft pic or prospect to sweeten the pot.

I think Luongo has a NTC anyway and I doubt he would be willing to wave it to come to the Leafs in the condition they're in.

yeaa I dont know. I dont want to give up a great prospect because we are rebuilding. Most of our prospects have tonnes of heart and grit, something our team NEEDS. Thats why I am being stingy.

Would you be cool if I replaced D'Amigo for Deschamps and took out Lombardi?

I could see a solid team with goaltending woes taking a chance on him. The Ducks or Bolts with Luongo would instantly be pushed back to contender status.

LOL, your pretty funny.

You think Van is going to be able to keep Schnieds with a 2.7m to 3.2m cap hit?

You might want to check what the RFA offer sheet comp is for someone up to 3.16m per,

it's only a measly 2nd as compo.

And with the cap rising next year, so will that #

you could be looking at having to top 3.5m per next year to get out of the mere 2nd rounder compensation limit.

IIRC there is no love lost between our Gm and yours, we just might see BB finally open up and try to OS, seeing how desperate he and the nucks will be.

Anyone think Schneider would sign a 5 year $15 million contract anyway? He might sign a 3 year $9 million, but not 5 year.

Canucks would match and keep him for the year and then try and unload one of them.

Burke wouldn't do a 10 year contract anyway, so why would he deal for Luongo?

Either wrong player or wrong team being discussed.

The general consensus is yes. Most Canuck fans see Schneider as the starter for next year. Visit our board, look at our poll; he's won most of us over.

Yes! Lets extend that cap hell the Leats are curently in, to the end of the decade. Can we dream up another trade or two to help us in that direction? We missed on Carter so we will have to be creative.

Luongo have a full NTC?

If Luongo can get past the yips, and actually bring the Cup to Vancouver then he can rest on his laurels for several years (kind of like the Rangers did), and could perhaps entice a good team to make an offer for him.

Flyers don't seem to have much issue with decade long contracts, but they already have a stupid goalie contract.

Washington Capitals.

Personally, I can see 4+mill plus for about 4-5 years.

As for the offer sheet perspective, some other Canucks fans think we'll match up to 5mil... That's a lot even for me.

I think for a couple more years he has a full NTC, don't quote me this. If he rumors are true that he wants to come back to the east coast to be closer to his family the NTC shouldn't be a problem.

If the Flyers can trade 2 life time contracts in Richards and Carter, I don't see it being a problem for Luongo.

I don't think it would be a problem if he wins, but if he falls apart like he did in Boston I'm not sure.

Canucks have more than enough money to sign both Schneider and Luongo.

Can waive/trade Ballard if needed and we'll still be paying less for goaltending than the Bruins.

Lots of teams can afford to bury his last 4 low salary years in the AHL. Canucks and Leafs could both do it easily.

Capwise, he basically has 6 years left on his deal after this season.

Fair enough. But he did get us to the dance I just wouldn't blame the lost totally on Luongo. The defense was a wreck with the injuries and we only scored 8 goals during the 7 game series.

He'll probably retire a few years before then. He should be a top 5-10 goalie for another 3-4 imo. He's 32 and hopefully if you guys do trade for him you'll be in a situation like us with a Blue chip goalie prospect in the system to take over.
