OT: Enough in Montreal Gauthier fired.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=391671

Quote:
Pierre Gauthier's tenure as general manager of the Montreal Canadiens is over.

Canadiens owner and team president Geoff Molson has called a news conference for Thursday at 11:45am et to formally announce that the club has relieved him of his duties. The Canadiens are last in the Eastern Conference with a 29-34-14 record and were eliminated from playoff contention on Saturday.

He's gone.

EDIT: Serge Savard brought on in an advisory role and will assist in the search for a new GM.

Desjardins estimates that about 40% of the game is captured by Corsi analysis.

I expect Cunneyworth to be 'relieved of his duties' before next season as well.

You honestly believe Gauthier would do a better job than Burke? Because I'll have to disagree with you.

Apparently, ex-Leaf Vinny Damphousse is one of the several possible candidates to replace him. Interesting.

So that's what happens to a GM when he finishes at the bottom of the standings..

They'll give the Team to Patrick Roy and the whole thing will be a giant cluster ____.

Don't feed the trolls

Kinda sad, Gauthier made so many poor moves I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Habs toil at the bottom of the league.

Glen Healy to replace him? Montreal is a good consolation prize from the Leafs

Saw this one coming. I think the first sign is when he fired the assistant coach early in the season. The way that was done showed poor leadership.

Everyone points at the standings for the firing but I think the problems ran much deeper than that. Say what you want about Burke and his lack of success, but the Leafs have a very solid management team in place and run a tight ship.

Media is starting to turn against burke and I think that we will start hearing and reading more from different media people who two years ago thought he walked on water.

Wish Gauthier all the best, always crappy when someone loses their job.

I really really really hope the Habs hire Roy as either coach or GM as I believe he would be a collosal failure in either position. It would help to keep Montreal exactly where the belong, at the bottom of the standings.

Same here. At least over the summer for the draft and to make a few trades.

Doesn't sound like Roy wants the BS. I heard a quote from him that he was happy as the judge, jury and executioner for the Ramparts.
