The losing is a double edged sword. As a fan, the only thing you have to look forward to when your team is playing this bad and dropping in the standings like anchor was attached to their ankles, is getting a high draft pick. On the flip side, the way the team is losing is something that should be a concern and I think it's a far greater concern than if we pick #3 or #8. I haven't paid attention to the players who are in the UFA draft class but if there were any notable names that could be a boost to the team, I assume people would be talking more about it. I can only hope that these guys are just trying to speed up the painful process, get this season over with and somehow mentally recharge themselves.

By the way, Leafs you did a fine job welcoming Rynnas to your team. You hung the poor kid out to dry tonight.

Kessel's not getting 40 goals this year. In fact I don't think he scores another goal this year.

tough players shouldnt' be trying to bully 20 year olds around, and if you do... answer the bell, not run away with with your tail between your legs.

chicken crap shoudn't be playing on this team, hence it reflects the leadership of this team.

when is hartnell and simmonds become a plug??? LOL

Not sure who picked the team, but they forgot about leadership and pride.

Have to say there are only about 3 defenders and 6 forwards worth keeping.

Kind of hard to make mistakes going forward.

Since I believe we have to continue building through the draft, it's going to be a couple more years until we make the playoffs. As long as Burke doesn't trade away our picks, or some of our solid young prospects, I'd rather watch him twist in the wind until the end of his deal.

I'm not here to be a dick - as the Leafs have always been my favorite Canadian team - great town, great fans, been there a bunch of times and can't say enough good about Toronto.

Holy crap you guys deserve better. Burke deserved a crack at it this year and things looked good early but it has to end. Such a bad combination of undisciplined hot-heads like Phaneuf, Brown, Rosehill, Armstrong and the polar opposite guys like Kessel, Connolly, and to a lesser extent Bozak I guess.

The team can be summed up by Phaneuf desperately trying to get Schenn to fight at the end there - for what? What does Luke Schenn think of that? I guess why should he care but what is the damn captain of the team doing that for - and then he backs down from Simmonds who is 190 lbs soaking wet. And Kessel hanging out at the blue line down 7-1.

I was hoping so bad for the Flyers to have a shot at Phaneuf when he was drafted - and I think he is an extremely talented player but - where the hell was his passion and anger in the 1st when things went to crap right away???

The sad thing is - Phaneuf will be really good somewhere else as will Schenn and so many other Leafs (even Komisarek). There is way too much talent on this team to be stinking it up like this - let alone not making the playoffs. That locker room must be awful - as there are so many less talented teams with 10 more wins.

Or it could mean that losing begets more losing and creates such a huge culture and legacy of losing that you can never really get out of it.

"Tanking" for a better pick sounds great on the surface, but it doesn't guarantee results.

I hope that the leafs fire Burke.

This is the lowest I've ever felt about the team

All I'm trying to say is that losing the way they are and how desolate and pathetic and every other word you want to use to describe this team is a bigger problem right now than picking #5 vs. #7.

Them playing this poorly is bigger concern to Burke than where they're picking, I can guarantee you that.

Who do you consider tough in this league? How many of them can actually play hockey. How many of them fight goons?

I think he needs to recheck his facts. I'm pretty sure it was mentioned earlier this season that there were 6 and at the very least, there are 5 because Hal Gill was forgotten on that list.

It's still a really sad fact but if someone is going to tweet facts, at least get them right, lol.

At this point the guys have cashed it in.

Its a lot better then them putting on a mirrage that they are good players so BB keeps them around.

Of course no guarantees, but the chances of success is much greater.

In 2007-2008 season if we lost just a few more games, Doughty would be in Blue and White instead of Schenn.

Similarly the next year, losing a few spots netted us Kadri instead of Duchene.

We have had enough Schenns and Kadris. It's time we get our star!
