Say we finish 1st, Pitt finishes 4th, Florida finishes 3rd, Jersey finishes 6th. The Bruins at #2, say win in the first round. Pitt wins in the first round. We win in the first round. So Jersey is playing in a game 7 against Florida. If Jersey wins we get them in the first round. Pitt gets Boston (and IMO a good chance to lose). If Florida wins, we get Pitt. Do you root for Jersey in this situation? Or do you hate them so much, you can't do that?

I agree! The Rangers goal is to win the Cup. They will have to go beat Jersey or Pittsburgh to accomplish that and both teams are strong. Except for Florida I can see any of the top 6 teams having a legit chance to go to the finals if everything breaks right. I would put Philadelphia as the least likely of the group.
Going to have to face somebody decent in the playoffs. Personally I think Boston is going to get knocked out the first round.
Its nice to have a marginal team to play in the first round, but after that you face who you face.
Maybe I'm a little too arrogant since we struggled against the in the season series (3-2-1), but if we play NJ in the second round that's about as favorable matchup as you can get. Decent is all they are. The question is would you dare root for a hated rival to win a playoff series, though.

You face NJ or Pitt, both are rivals. NJ is an inferior team, but they won't play us like an inferior team. That series would be a war. Probably just as big of a war(might even be worse)than with Pitt. My point is, at that point, it doesn't really matter. If Pitt makes it past Philly, we are going to face them sooner or later.
I would rather it be sooner than later.
To answer the question: It would be cold day in hell when I root for the New Jersey Devils. That is my most hated NHL franchise.

I don't think Pitt is a shoe in to win that series at all.
Personally, I think there is a STRONG possibility that Boston gets knocked out the first round and we face Ottawa in the second round.

errrr yea go Jersey then, no one wants to play the Pens although I would not be shocked if the Flyers beat them out first round. They will kill each other which is great
1st round I want Ottawa or Washington , no Buffalo although I think they beat them too
I so badly want to write Boston off, but last year they finished their season weak too, and I will never forget after our 4-3 comeback against them last year their fans were running for the cliff.

Im rooting for the rangers..i dont root for anyone else,im a rangers fan..i do apprecaite help from other teams ( isles recently beating Pitts 2 times,lol).
