It's possible that he got headaches from ramping up the intensity for full practice but is fine skating with the black aces. When Letang was recovering (have him on my fantasy team, so I followed the situation), he skated for about a week even though he wasn't ready for full practice.
But did he go from full practice, to a setback, back to skating again the next day? I dont doubt maybe he needs more time to skate, but i dont understand the setback and headaches, and hitting the ice the next day again.

Yeah that's not a setback. A concussion setback is serious ****, like sit in a dark room with no stimulus type stuff. Not demotion to the black aces type stuff.
Yeah if he was having any symptoms at all after practicing I guarantee he'd be shut down completely for a few days. People are reading way too much into this. Gillis said the plan was for yesterday to be a light day and I believe him - that actually makes sense.
Whether he plays tonight or not, who knows, but if not I wouldn't be overly concerned. They may have just set Game 2 as the target. If he's not on the ice at all today... then I'd start to worry.

Someone on team 1040, from nhl.com (I think they said his name was kevin woodley?) said if he actually had a setback, he would not have been skating with the aces, he mentioned how canucks are all for following protocol, and skating him the next day after a setback would not fall in that category.
Not to say he will play tonight, he might not out of caution, but i dont buy the story that his dad said he had headaches again, and yet hes skating.
The canucks err on the side of caution when it comes to concussions since the Mitchell incident. Everything you hear about the canucks and how they treat concussions and potential concussions suggest they are the most conservative club in the league (see for example holding Hodgson out of the lineup when he didn't have symptoms after the hit in Toronto).
I have to believe that if Daniel had any return of symptoms he wouldn't have been allowed to skate the next day. A headache is a return of symptoms. Also, at the full practice on Monday he was also able to take contact, so prior to that contact clearance he had to have been doing intense exercise without symptoms.
It may be like what Crosby mentioned when he came back the second time. The first time he came back, despite being medically cleared and being symptom free he remarked that he never felt as good as he did when taking the ice again a few weeks ago.
Someone on team 1040, i think he is a writer from l.a. who follows the kings also said if he actually had a setback, he would not have been skating with the aces, he mentioned how canucks are all for following protocol, and skating him the next day after a setback would not fall in that category.

Hey that's what I said! Maybe I should ask to go on 1040!
Most of you are suggesting that because he practiced with the full team on Monday and still was on the ice Tuesday taht he didn't suffer a setback. I agree.
But to me that says he's not ready (healthy, but not ready) and they are giving the real game day lines a chance to practice.

Just my guess.
I would agree with this. I would not be surprised if he did not play, but I dont feel he had a setback. Unless your on the cdc someone is claiming he had post concussion syndrome but is being forced to skate for playoffs.

I would be concerned if Daniel played tonight, I would have the feeling that he was rushing back into the lineup. If he needs another week before playing, so be it. That would be game three or four of the first series. I want Daniel in the Finals and that would be risked by putting him in if he is still injured or even if he is healthy-but-tentative.

If he had a setback, he's not going to be out another week. It'll be a week before he can even start skating again, and then he has to go through the whole process up through contact without symptoms. Two weeks minimum I'd think.

Absolute minimum would be 10 days. But if there was a setback and they are following protocol, a full two weeks is much more likely.
Jim Hughson on Team1040 expects Daniel in the line-up by Friday - based on his observations during yesterday's Black Aces skate.
(Daniel was smiling, having fun, flipping pucks in the top-corners, didn't look like he was in any discomfort at all)
I think Friday is more likely than an setback at this point. He skated hard for two days, shut it down for one day, and will hopefully be ready to go on Thursday. If he's not on the ice tomorrow I'll be very concerned.
