This game worries me a lot.

Pittsburgh is going to be pissed after getting swept by the Isles and going to come out hard.

And as good as Miller has been, it seems like the Pens have always had his number. Always have trouble with that team.

I still think this is a must-win, because, as we saw last night, we can't count on any help from the out-of-town scoreboard.

Pittsburgh's skidding a little bit, and they should slow down as the game goes on. If Buffalo survives the inevitable first period onslaught, they should walk away with two points.

Gotta ride the big boys now and keep that Weber-Sulzer pairing on the bench. I expect Lindy to do lots and lots of line-matching to give Weber sheltered minutes away from Geno and Sid.

Other question... I assume Leo plays the point on the PP1 in Ehrhoff's place, but who's manning the point on PP2? Myers and.... Roy?

Leo with Poms and the Ennis line
Myers with Roy and the Hodgson line minus Tropp + Boyes?

Sekera has been next in line on point on PP2 generally........

I think you'll see Myers as the lone D on PP1 and a Leo/Reggie pairing on PP2.....

The Sabres must come away from this game with points. They had better come out flying. Pens will be looking to get on the board quick after their last two 5-3 losses to the Isles. I expect a good effort as the Pens should be getting up for this Friday night game. Sabres have to match it and then continue solid play in periods 2-3. Get the W, or at least a point.

If you take out our 5-1 shellacking, the Caps have points in 5 straight games and 10 of their last 12.

We need to keep winning, because it's pretty damn clear we're not going to get any help.

I feel good about this game. I think the team knows what they have to do and they're going to do it.

Interesting promotion tonight. If you have a 19 Sabres jersey you can get the stitching removed and HODGSON put on for free at the store.

Need at least 1 point to stay ahead of the caps. Playing the pens, Ill be happy with a point, but a loss in regulation would be killer.

Well, if TBN and TSN are right, the Sabres may get the next best thing with Brent Johnson tonight:

Quote:
Looks like the Sabres will be facing backup Brent Johnson in goal as Marc-Andre Fleury, who lost last night on Long Island and has already played 64 games this season, took the Pens' optional morning skate with the team's healthy scratches. (The big names like Crosby were not here)

Johnson has been out with an undisclosed injury since getting pulled against the Sabres on Feb. 19. He has terrible career numbers against Buffalo (6-5-0, 3.76, .867) and has been brutal against everyone this year (3-7-2, 3.17, .882), but the Penguins likely need to save Fleury for Sunday afternoon's fourth-place showdown against Philadelphia.

Quote:
The Penguins did not skate this morning and only a few players came out. Marc-Andre Fleury was one of them while Brent Johnson most likely be starting in goal tonight against Buffalo.-TSN

It'd be fun to see another night of Johnson smashing his stick over crossbar in frustration....

With Crosby & Malkin in the mix, who knows if the Sabres will be up to the task but look at this way: if a doormat like the Islanders can win back-to-back games against the Pens with those 2 guys in the lineup, why can't the Sabres with a better roster and goaltending?

HUGE game tonight. HUGE, I say.

PIT and BUF have the two best records since the All Star Break. With Pitt's latest losses, the Sabres now have the best record (by point % anyway in the NHL).

Since ASB:

Sabres have earned 41 points in 28 games = 0.732%
Pens have earned 40 points in 28 games = 0.714%

The only other team in the NHL with over 0.700% since ASB is STL, which is at 0.707%.

Point is, this is a matchup of two seriously hot teams (notwithstanding the Islanders fiasco for PIT).

BUFFALO GO!

Or Brian Holzinger!

I can see a ton of Connolly jerseys being turned in if fans owning one didn't already burn them

Hey, win this one and we'll be at .500 in terms of wins vs total losses.

Oh also, playoff implications I guess
