IceCaps outshoot Falcons 33-29. They go 1/5 on the PP, 4/4 on the PK and take 10 PIM
Julian Melchiori made his professional debut tonight.
Zach's brother Aaron Bogosian plays for the Falcons.
St.John's finishes the regular season tomorrow in Manchester.
IceCaps could play either Syracuse, Manchester or Portland in the first round of the play-offs. St.John's will finish 2nd in the Eastern Conference, so they would play the team that finishes 7th. Syracuse is currently in 7th place with 82 points, but Manchester and Portland are only 1 point behind them. All three teams play tomorrow (STJ @ MCH, POR @ PRO, SYR @ ALB) so the IceCaps won't know who they are playing until tomorrow night.
Season series records versus possible opponents in the first round of the play-offs:
St.John's wins 5 of 7 games over Manchester (Oct 8 W 1-0, Dec 16 W 4-2, Jan 6 W 4-2, Jan 7 W 3-2, Jan 27 W 3-2, Mar 17 L 3-1, Mar 18 L 3-0)
Season series split 4-4 versus Portland (Oct 25 W 5-1, Oct 26 L 5-2, Dec 17 L 4-3, Dec 18 W 5-2, Jan 21 L 5-2, Jan 28 W 3-0, Apr 3 W 5-2, Apr 4 L 5-1) Syracuse wins 3 of 4 games (Dec 6 W 4-3, Dec 7 L 5-3, Mar 3 L 6-4, Mar 23 L 5-4)

Notes
St. John's outshoots Manchester 33-26. IceCaps go 1/6 on the PP, 3/5 on the PK and take 12 PIM.
The win puts Manchester in 7th (for the time being) and therefore makes them St.John's opponent in the first round of the play-offs. However Syracuse is only one point behind Manchester and is playing Albany this afternoon, leading the Devils 2-1 after 2 periods. If they hang on to win, they will play the IceCaps instead.

It's official, the St.John's IceCaps will meet the Syracuse Crunch in the first round of the AHL play-offs

Syracuse holds on for a 2-1 win in Albany. Crunch are in as the 7 seed in the East, Manchester is 8th. #CalderCup
First-round matchups in the Eastern Conference: Norfolk-Manchester, St. John's-Syracuse, Bridgeport-Connecticut, WBS-Hershey #CalderCup
Syracuse has gone 6-2-1-1 in their last 10 games, the IceCaps 4-6-0-0.
IceCaps lost 3 of 4 meetings against the Crunch this season. Could be a tough series for them especially the fact they'll start the series in Syracuse and the IceCaps haven't exactly played consistently well for weeks. I'm just saying don't be surprised if....
IceCaps’ First Round Playoff Schedule:
Friday, April 20: IceCaps at Crunch 9:00 p.m. (War Memorial Arena)
Saturday, April 21: IceCaps at Crunch 9:00 p.m. (War Memorial Arena)
Wednesday, April 25: Crunch vs. IceCaps 7:30 p.m. (Mile One Centre)
Friday, April 27: Crunch vs. IceCaps 7:30 p.m. (Mile One Centre) (if necessary)
Saturday, April 28: Crunch vs. IceCaps 7:30 p.m. (Mile One Centre) (if necessary)

67's with a SH goal for the 2nd goal - mixup on the blueline, and the 67's took advantage.
Kitchener battling for their lives tonight. Jeff Skinner (ex Ranger) made an appearance and was interviewed between whistles - that guy ALWAYS has a smile on his face.
The Colts are getting VERY tired running 2 lines and it is starting to show. I think Ottawa might take this because Telegin is cooling down and Scheifele is getting beat down every shift.

The Ottawa radio guys talked about how worn down Mark looks and how the 67's are just all over him all the time. They also mentioned that he might be his worst enemy by being so assertive, putting himself in situations where he can just be abused.
Looks like the IceCaps will match up with the Crunch.
How was their play against them during the season?
terrible Syracuse explots St.John's weakness,in breakaways and odd man rushes, are d is too offensive and pinches, and gets caught way to often,I expect Syracuse in 4,id of sooner taken on Norfolk.Keep in mind beggining of March Syracuse was 14th in the east and 28 pts back of Icecaps, now prob 12 pts back, gives you an idea of how their playing and how we been playing last 2 months

Not trying to jinx the Colts as it would be great for them to move on, IF the Colts lose, is Mark going to be physically able to play for the Ice Caps?
Sounds like he has taken some punishment against the 67's.

hes not old enough i think...have to be 20 or older right?

No, he can play in the AHL playoffs. You have to be 20 at the beginning of the season (or December) to play the season in the AHL.
I was just wondering if Mark's "body" would be ready to pick up and play an AHL playoff series.
He's had a long year. He played junior last year, went to the U18's, finished the junior season, played in the prospects camp, went to training camp, played 7 games in the NHL, went to juniors, played in the WJC, went back to juniors, and is now getting a lot of abuse in the 67's series.
I would love to see him and Ivan get the AHL experience. Just wondering what shape those guys would be in after the series if they lose.

CHL players are eligible to play in the AHL once their junior season is over even if they don't yet meet the age criteria listed above. So you could see 18 and 19-year-old juniors in the AHL late in the season. They can and do return to junior the next year.
So, if Barrie gets ousted from the playoffs, Scheifele can play for the IceCaps. 18 and 19 year olds just can play the season for an AHL team - it's part of an agreement between the CHL and AHL to ensure that players have time to properly develop, and to prevent stripping the CHL teams of all their top talent.

I think if they can still roll out of bed in one piece, they'll be chomping at the bit to play for an AHL team in the playoffs. I know I would!
Hate to say this, but I think the odds are against the Colts to pull off the series tomorrow night. It would be amazing if Scheif and/or Ivan could get in some action with the IceCaps. The experience would do both of them a world of good. Although Mark saw action in 7 Jets games, it was at the beginning of the year when teams were still just getting warmed up. Action in the play-offs is a whole different story.
